I have been checking some old posts and have noted that the subframes suffer when attacking kerbs. I have had a quick check side to side on mine and as far as i can tell it all looks good. When a subframe bends from a heavy kerbing where does it tend to bend\twist ?

snap !!!!!!!! just did the same myself. understeered into a high kerb on petrol forecourt. slight front bumper, wheel, mashed foglight and damaged wheelarch liner. steering to the left heavily. checked one side to the other and the bottom arm is bent :( could be worse i guess...

i find it more of a problem due to my size 12's ! for the record i am 6'2 and have no problem with it

use a grinder to cut the disc from around it then take the top off.

In my experience a clutch bearing tends to squeal and also this cant be heard from the gearbox side. Leads me to believe its not release bearing. Will be a s**t if it is bearing :(

If the hg has gone then it will also need a head skim. Make sure you do it or you will be replacing the hg again in a few weeks.

How wrong you are ! I bought one and put Tom Tom maps on it. May not have all the bells and whistles but for Sat Nav its not bad.

dont cut them down ! remove them and replace the damper with a solid bar of the correct length. who needs springs !

i bought a centre section from ebay - £45 i recall. somewhere in birmingham i think. this was for a 2000 X 172

i put a new one in mine. The sensor is about £22 from Renault. Remove the engine cover and you can access it from down the back. Its just to the right of the exhaust with a cover over it to stop it melting. This is the first thing to try.

my 172 (2001 ) with aircon has started to smell of rotten eggs ( in the car, not under bonnet ). could this be an issue with the air con ? seems to come and go ? too many brussel sprouts ?

set the camber. do a lap. check tyre temperature acroos the tread. adjust camber if required :)
