i would really advise against this. not only will it blind you it will also depreciate your car an make it look very tacky. would also be a great get out for insurance companys
the vans are a fair bit cheaper to buy than a dci car.. unless you already had the car ? and with the shape of the car it would be a pic to mdf.. you wont have the load tray in the back either that you have with the van
depends what your budget is tbh.. il be starting to slowly colect bits for mine soon.
if you focus on the hardware
mani £80 ish
turbo £300 ish
IC + pipes £200
oil pipes + fittings £100
used ecu £400-500
mapping £300ish
Obviously there is more to it that that but if you can afford all that...
what kinda power are we talking here tho.. im on about a 400+bhp evo.
i know a few of the lads running big power c20lets use the ebay ones and do well from that, although they no doubt would do better from a more efficient one from the like of forge etc.
iv seen the differences on dyno from a run on a ebay to a run on a standard evo cooler.. no i havnt gone into any depth on it as its not something that concerns me atm but i have seen the differences on dyno from a run on a ebay to a run on a standard evo cooler ( on the same car )
from what i have seen yes. why make your turbo work harder when for a little more you can have a much more efficient IC. when it comes to these there cheap and expensive for a reason.
i wouldnt go for the ebay universal coolers. a mate fitted one on his evo and lost power on standard the dyno operator couldnt think why until he saw the ebay cooler. if your after a IC look for a evo one as they flow very well on standard so do the landy td5 ones
although it may be worth it you can buy a conversion for alot less.. think i have spent under £450 on my conversion and that was from diesel to a petrol 172.
you will be better of selling the engine + box on there own then do like a conversion kit which includes
full loom ( inside + out) ...
personally i always stick to my bank but paypal if needs be. although i am very low scale. a bloke on here recently had alot of trouble with paypal, think they are currently holding £35k of his money may be worth reading into his thread
you could, but then you would need to have the flange welded onto you tube then a hole drilled and a nut fitted for the lamda sensor.. you can pick decats up on here for about £50 quid which will save you alot of messing about and you will still have your cat for mot time
wanting to get my project back on track now.
from one 172 i have key, ecu, decoder ring and from another i have the uch..
now know i will need the ecu and uch to be paired for the car to run .is there anyway around this or am i going to need the ecu unlocking, and if so were and howmuch
sorry mate didnt realise you were a painter aswell.. iv been doing this for about 4 years now trained by a merc + bentley approved garage.
and you can use standard 2k lacquer with rocket added and flat that within a few hours.. although the rocket makes the laquer or paint slighlty dull...
who mentioned flatting and polishing ? and it can be done in a day prepped, painted, lacquered, flatted and polished.
in a day using standard but decent aerosols it can be lacquered and left to cure or bake depending on what you have available
if its solvent based drying times should be fairly low unless your putting way to much on.. lacquer will take slightly longer but can easily be done in a day
f**k that would take forever.
1)remove strips
2)p400 dry
3)3-4 coats high build primer ( half hour between each coat)
4)dust coat of black paint over the primer
5)now wet flat with p600 untill all the black aerosol has gone ( will mean primer is smooth)
6) base coat
6.1) light dust...
who needs expensive kits when for £600 you can have one of these, 25psi of boost !!! :dead:

that coupled with the 15bhp 4 branch...
