How old is the battery, more than 6 years and it would be worth buying a new one anyway. There has been a few threads with exactly the same fault as yours, usually the battery, alternator or poor cable connectors.
Yes Russ, You have a lot to learn yet at your tender age. Better start doing Track Days with all that disposable income you should have. i start my my company pension next March and already contemplating a new track car. Zoom Zoom for now.
Bassplayer , perhaps Cliosport should have a Forum for 50 plusers where we can discuss sensible mods, and maybe warm beer, what the grandchildren are doing etc. ;)
Yes you have to take it out if Pirtek are repairing it. I Managed to remove pipe without dropping the gearbox. As you know there is a mount bolted on top of the gearbox, you can get access by removing the wheel arch liner and the vertical subframe strap then undoing the nut from the wheelarch...
It's £230+ from Renault Dealer. You can get it repaired if you take the whole thing out. My thread on the same problem---- http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?495153-Power-steering-hose-pipe-leak.&highlight=
As your leak is in the solid pipe Pirtek can make up new sections as well.
Finding a good Williams is the hard bit. As for the best to drive, you will have to test drive different models before you make up your mind. I started of by wanting a Ph1 but ended up with my Cup, and glad I did some test drives.
Sorry, you are not the eldest on this forum, I'm 59 and there is at least one other gentleman of 63+ with a RS Clio. Like you I am a petrolhead (and dieselhead ;))
I do do most of the maintainance on the cars but not making a a Horlicks of it on silly mods, have other things to spend money on...
Unfortunatley for you the German test system won't recognise the English Vosa test allowances for the Cup rear brakes. Changing the pads and brake compensator will improve things marginally but as for passing the German test is another thing entirely. Good luck and hope it does not...
The waterpump is not run by the cambelt but is run by the Auxiliary belt so not a real pain to change if the water pump should fail. If you are doing it yourself then I would change the waterpump if you are not short of cash. Phone around the traders on this forum for belt costs, it...
I did all the fluids last year as the car was up to 85K miles. Might as well do the power steering fluid as well. As for the brake fluid, run 1/4 litre through each bleed nipple to get rid off old fluid, doesn't hurt and you'll be getting rid off the surplus anyway.
You can't clean them yourself, if you rub the injector ends with any type of material it won't do much good. You need to take them a a fuel injection specialist and have them ultasonically cleaned, they can also tell you if the fuel spray pattern is correct or blocked.
There are about 3 electrical plugs to disconnect and a couple off small hoses. Look all round the sides of the plenum and you will see them, if you miss one it will be obvious when you carefully lift away the plenum. If the gasket is not damaged then just clean and re-use. If you have not done...
It should open just before the water boils, so if you don't have a thermometer that would be good guide. As yours opens early then it would appear faulty unless you were given the wrong stat.
Have you changed the water temp sensor, could that be at fault?
