You'll probably get away with 1 missing bolt for a short while as long as the others are secure and you have a decent sealing gasket. You'll know if there is an air leak, engine will rev unevenly especially at idle.
Had this problem when I first bought my Cup failed on the rear brakes. The tester did know about the Cup's lack of lever on the sensor but he did say there should be some measurable effort on the brake discs. I changed the rear discs, pads and new brake fluid and went for the retest, the...
Firstly you want to have a drive of a couple of Clios to see if its the type of car you want. Try a PH1 172 and a Cup 172, they will be in your price range. A really good one can be had for £4k.
Remember it's French, lots of foibles, just have a look around the Forum.
Plenty of advice...
Pink oil? Never heard of that. Any oil of the correct grade will do, I would put some cheap oil of the correct grade in, run it for a few hundred miles to wash out the dirt, then put put my preferred brand in.
The oil stains around there look a black. You can't guarantee what was put in the last few years so it's worth changing the gear oil and at least you will know it is at the correct level. Cost you about £35.
Both are fine. In theory 195's will give you very slightly better handling and 205's slightly more grip. In real life you wont notice any difference. It's been mentioned many times on CS that the 195's are somewhat cheaper to buy and many go with this.
Even though the warranty has run out, a gearbox that only lasts 3 and a bit years should be dealt with by Renault, as it was not fit for the purpose and should last the lifetime of the car, apart from abuse of course. If you went to court over this you would probably win the case but that would...
Personally I wouldn't buy used parts that have a high wear rate, I would buy new. However if someone running a car on a shoestring couldn't afford new parts they would be looking for cheap used and would buy something like you have for sale. You could have a look on the Cliosport parts...
Keep them, You never know, sometime in the future you may need to put the OE's back on, when you sell the car for instance. If you have to sell them, sell the shocks seperate from the springs, Springs £25 set. Shocks £30 set. Very hard to price 2nd. hand stuff.
If the shocks have done 50k + miles then they are probably on their way out or if they are not oe's or decent upgrades then they could be give a dodgy ride. You can borrow my OE springs if you like to try them, my guess is you will soon put the Sportines back on. They are easy to change...
Take out the foglights, remove door mirror motors.
The carbon canister is under the offside wheelarch and behind the headlight, a rectangular black plastic box about 10" high. Pull out the valve fitted at the top leave the 2 wires conncted, cable tie it behind the headlamp unit, Join the 2...
They won't repair the springs or other faulty suspension parts if caused by your non OE springs. But there again the Renault dealer can be awkward about anything, so leave them alone for now.
When I think of the early days of ABS we all though it was new kind of gizmo that won't last but now every car has it and it works well. For those started driving on ABS cars for some reason they think they are going to die.
Get back basics STSaunders and learn to drive again, you WILL love...
