Its so strange how people believe totally contrasting opinions about the standard contis
I couldnt really fault them as a summer/dry/track tyre...i might just stick them on the car when next i go track daying.....they feel nice and responsive.
Its just if the road surface is damp/wet i find...
I know everyone has their own views on things but i found the standard contis to be one of the worst tyres ever (in the wet)
Dry handling was reasonable but in the wet i found it hard to set off from junctions without spinning and the understeer was awefull...now i wasnt trying to drive like a...

I had a centre section replaced (due to welds on baffles falling to bits) which caused the 4k rattle. On mine the rattle started after about 9000miles and became unbarable at 10500miles.
I have done about 19500 miles now and the rattles just starting again but got quite loud last night....so...

I think the answer would be probabily....the offset is quite high, i use 7x17 with et37 (with 205x40x17 tyres) and they are a very tight fit in the wheel arch...
Plus, i think many people would agree, the clio Cup is meant to be a lightweight and very nimble machine, the 18s would seriously...
I have had a set of the following on various cars:
Goodyear Eagle F1 GSD2 (previous car, did 15000 miles on them)
Falken FK-451 (with the 17"s on 172 done 7000 miles + 2 track days - almost dead on fronts now)
ToyoProxes T1-S (with the 17"s on 172 did 4000 miles on these)

Falken 502s are not very good in wet and they are what most companies fit (cheap as chips)
However, the FK-451 is a comparable tyre IMO as a Toyo Proxy T1S and near as damn it to the Goodyear F1 which i have had both on various cars

I had toyo proxes on my 172 when i had the superTs, so i only drove them for a couple of thousand miles but they seemed excellent to me, much better than contis....had to provoke the rear, like captn said, try slightly softening the rear.

I would agree that you wouldnt want the shock to stop the spring compressing, but due to the 35mm lowering spring (which is progressive), the AVO which i have is much lower than the eibach, so i am just going to get some slightly longer springs plus just get some good shocks....nick...

Well, since i had the 17"s and 35mm lower, i get a little scrubbage when loaded or on nasty potholey roads....on one occasion i got a little bit overzealous and it totally bottomed out the suspension and for some reason it bent the inner lip of the drivers side wheel arch at the front...cant see...

I just did the same with Motorpoint in derby, just faxed the lady at autosupport with my email from renault (stating the 3 years thing) and she texted me back about 10minutes later informing me the £399 cheque was in the post.
Didnt even question it

I got Hillpower to replace my front disks and pads with tarox (only thing HP supply)
They were £280 fitted and are very nice, noisier cos they are 40 groove but less fade (higher upper thermal limit)

Hi all
Anyone completely removed the rear seat backs from a Mk2 172?
The bases are simple enough, just pull out and the rear seat backs have clips at each end to unhook, but there is something in the middle holding them in.
Seems that it would come out if that black plastic thing in the...
