i think there trying to point out that, a increased brake bias to the front will make for a light back end, reducing rear cohesion!
but, as you say, the front grip avalible should be constant regardless of front setup!

Leaking reservoir is common and nothing to worry about, small hole in cap. tis all.
Brakes - sounds like warped discs, new discs and pads should sort!
unsure about the ABS light thou as mine aint got it.
