Since before 2011.
Happy discussing dude but it's not possible, even with 300lbs. My last car was a diesel running approx 200hp and 300lbs/ft, and was lighter and that wouldn't smash a Focus ST. I reckon it would be a touch quicker in gear but that's it. I'm pretty sure the ST has a 5 cylinder...
How can a 180bhp diesel car demolish a 225bhp petrol car when they both weigh about the same? Also, why we talking Alfa now? Sorry dude, can't see it. The 140 would be about 8-9 secs to 60mph, probably over 20 secs to 100mph. Even a remap wouldn't be enough to equal the ST never mind walk all...
Little in it but I'd say the Focus is still quicker, on paper anyway. Same to 60, faster to 100 and a fair bit faster above 100, where the Clio struggles.
Agreed, they do rip people off but you need it and there's nothing else you can do, that's why I don't understand why people pay so much. Go with the advice, get something on a lower group and wait a few years. You can have just as much fun in slower cars - it's not all about 0-60.
Nobody wants to ride the bus but that's your own fault. I feel for young drivers having to pay silly amounts for basic, low powered cars but who can they blame?
You're trying to insure a car that is a high insurance group and is likely to be wrecked by a youngster. And live in a bad postcode. Try finding a car you can afford to insure until get older or move. None of your quotes will be cheap.
100% nonsense. For one, the insurers cannot just assume people lie about their policy and charge them for it and secondly, if you only drive your car at weekends on local roads, you're statistically less likely to be involved in a crash.
There is something wrong with the person who forks out over £2000 to insure a Clio. The only reason you'd pay silly money at that age is to be faster than your mates and that'll end in tears.
Well if standard sticks with standard, then increasing both cars by 30 bhp, I'd say they'd roughly still be the same. I'd give the in-gear time to the Mini though, as the Clio will still have sod all torque. Not much between them.
Maybe the glass is only thinner in the back windows. I think I...
Totally agree, the 172 was great on fuel for the performance. The 197 & 200 however are terrible.
The Supercharged Mini was terrible on fuel but the Turbocharged is very good.
The Supercharged S was probably on par with the Fiesta ST, maybe a touch quicker. I remember my Cup being quicker than the old S and that's the Mini they were comparing it to. I also don't believe these times from 50-70mph. I'd say the Cup would be quicker but not that much.
They were 1090kg...
