    Yay - upgrades

Yay, I just picked up new Koni's and Powerflex bush kit, so I will be under the car fitting it this weekend. I am a bit annoyed about the amount of damage to the paintwork though. I guess it will rust quick unless I cover it with something.

    oh dear!

Somehow when I look at that Clio it appears to be devolving into a Corsa which makes me feel a bit ill. Some respect for getting stuck in and doing something different - but I never was one for sticking bits of plastic on the car anyway.

    Spare wheel and centre cap?

A full size 16" sits about 1" proud of the floor level if you put it in spare wheel hole in the boot - not a huge inconvienience though (been doing this for 2 years intending to build a little false floor). I am quite sure the centre bore is the same, offset I am not sure. Considering it is...

    Radiator Fan 172 Cup

I just read this thread and think there may have been some confusion. The fan is controlled by a temperature sensor which turns it on when the coolent goes above a certain temperature. The fan does work after the ignition is turned off. This is the main reason for disconnecting the battery...

Removing numberplate stuck on with something very sticky

If you soak some solvent like white spirit into a rag and squeegee some down the back of the plate and leave for a bit then then that should soften the adhesive.

MINT PH1 172 20,000miles ON THE CLOCK BE QUICK £2995

It is a pity the photos are not quite detailed enough to see if there is wear on the steering wheel or seats.

    ***Tyre Poll***

I voted for Proxies. They seem to be good all round performers and a lot cheaper than the exaltos. I run P-zero front and proxy at the back - but can't vote for combi's ;)

    ABS RING CRACKED

Soz for the mis-information. I checked my records and and a few years ago Reanult garage charged me £168 for this! When I questioned it they told me they had to pull out the whole shaft, grrr. If I did not need the car to pass the MOT that day I would have looked at the job myself and realised.

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

Hi Fredii. The stuff I bought is this. http://www.lawson-his.co.uk/scripts/products.php?cat=Devcon%20Flexane%20Liquid%20Urethanes I found USA retailers selling no-brand stuff which is exactly the same material for 1/3rd the price - but could not source it in the UK. When I did the job a...

    ABS RING CRACKED

I think Renault sell the ring itself cheap. The problem is that fitting it requires either pulling out the whole driveshaft (and draining the gearbox) or breaking the CV joint in half. I think I was charged £90 to do this once.

    Help removing locking nut please

Something like this would probably work, but not very cheap http://www.axminster.co.uk/wiha-gripper-socket-prod23229/ I had a hard time drilling out and removing a snapped wheel bolt. Although it was a lot easier when I used a carbide bit. I'd recommend using a large square profile screw...

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

Just dropping in to report a year on the mount is working fine with no visual signs of any deterioation. I'd recommend this as an uprating of the mount for non sport cars where the powerflex bushings are not availible. I'd have got better value out of it if I was more organised and used the...

    Confirm ARB bush size?

Clio II Powerflex Inner ARB bush sizes come in 23mm or 25mm. I just measured the diameter of my ARB as 24.12mm. I dont know if his means I need 24mm bush or if the 23mm bush is designed to flex to fit. Is anybody able to confirm and help resolve my mismatch quandry? The car is a 1.6 16v (K4M)...

Camber Correcting Bolts, any difference between Sports and Non Sports?

The bolts just arrived on my desk from Venom (Quick despatch!). They are M12 fitment model number 81250. For M14 fitment I think model 81260 is required. They come in an Eibach box but I think they are made by SPC (EZ Cam XR Cam Bolts). I will post back with how they fit on the car - it...

    Suspension recommendation?

I just bought Koni STR.T shocks/springs for £280. I guess the springs are not as good as Eibach, but hopefully they do the job and the price is comparable to buying a set of separate shocks even if I end up swapping out the springs later.

Camber Correcting Bolts, any difference between Sports and Non Sports?

I just bought the bolts from Venom as they did not state they were for the Sport models only :( However, I don't see anything wrong with drilling out the holes to 14mm. Or is this a bad idea?

    Suspension recommendation?

Thanks for posting back. It looks like the Eibach's are popular ;) I have done some more research and tweeks have Spax and Koni kits for ~£300 http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/Performance/Suspension/Suspension_Kits/339 Are the the springs on either of these compareable with the Eibachs? It just...

    Suspension recommendation?

I need to replace the springs on my 1.6 16V ClioII and as the shocks are also quite old I thought it would be a good opportunity to upgrade the whole lot. The options I have spotted so far are: Eiback pro springs £150 (don't know what shocks would be best to run with these). Apex 40mm...

    Camber bolts.

Is there a part on Demon Tweeks suitable for ClioII, it only lists for Mk1 Clio (>98) http://www.demon-tweeks.co.uk/products/ProductDetail.asp?cls=ROAD&pcode=EIBE5.81250K

    Suspension Recommendations

I have a ClioII 1.6 16v which is in need of new springs, any recommendations? My initial thoughts are to go for Eibach Pro springs and keep the old shocks. I noticed that Demon Tweeks are selling £15 alignment bolts, but only list for the Mk1 Clio, is there anything I can use on the Clio II...

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

I did a few weeks ago it and it worked. :rasp: I awaited the delivery of the flexane for a very long time, and then had to do the job in a hurry, so I did not take decent pics. The mount definitely firmer than stock - nice crisp gear changes now, and not much louder. I used the flexane to...

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

Firstly, if anybody would be so kind to answer I have a question. Are there just 3 engine mounts, front left, front right and dogbone; or is there another on top of the transmission at the rear? I have not had the chance to get the car on ramps to check, because of work! As I previously...

Is it me or do the older generation just not get detailing?

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

Well, ahem.. it cost £40 posted, lol. Pity as I found several places selling it much cheaper in the states. However, I should still get value by using it for exhaust mounts, and the top transmission mount which I suspect is perished.

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

I am stubborn and like experimenting so I have ordered some polyurethane resin with ~24hr cure time. I shall report back with the results so you can all laugh at me when I fail :clown:

Drilling out front disc torx bolts..

Sorry to hear that. When my first wheel bolt snapped I didnt try to remove the disk. I just kept drilling larger holes until the the bolt was gone and chased out the threads. So that is still possible.

    Is this engine oil suitable?

Just to make sure you have all the steps for changing oil... 1. Make sure you have Oil, oil filter, sump plug key, screwdriver, new sump plug washer, pan to catch oil, newspaper. 2. run the car for a minute so the engine is warm (but not hot). 3. Ensure you are wearing clothes you dont...

    Transmission Mount (K4M)

I appreciate any advice you can give. Unfortunatly I dont think I explained the mount properly. This one attaches the rear underside of the tranny to the sub frame, and looks a bit like a malformed dog bone, the beam is thermoplastic. It (unfortunatly) does not look like this...

Drilling out front disc torx bolts..

Did you get it done? I just changed my front disks and it took nearly 5 hours. I hate rust! I kept the torx bolts but I used copperslip on them rather than threadlock.
