Fastpath "can" give better ping results, and in most cases indeed does, but PING (in it's true technical term) has absolutely no relationship to latency which causes "lag".

I'd be happy with 3.4ghz if it's stable. Pushing it much more will definitely require more volts on the cpu, NB and ram and that will only increase temps even further for not much more gain.
