    172 Owner's Manual

I have been phoning around Renault dealers for a Phase II 172 Owner's manual. All say 'out of print', except one who tried to sell me a non RS manual :dapprove: Is there anything available on-line do you know?

    MPG

I'm probably missing something in the MPG race to the lowest figure? Even in traffic I get 42 mpg out of my 172. I must try harder ;)

    Damaged alloys

Iv'e owned my 172 for about 6 weeks now. It came with some pretty bad dents in the rims, mainly front n/s. I've also added a few more :dapprove: There's a place near where I work that says it 'repairs' alloys - same day. What's involved in repairing? My n/s rim looks like it's missing...

172 and 36,000 miles - what to do?

I bought a 2003 172 with 34k on the clock about 6 weeks ago. Really good price but it's now due for a 36k service and the belt change :( My works fitter has offered to do the belts change for £280 and the service for £140. I know this is a good deal, but do I risk giving the car to a...

Wouldn't you get heavier wear on the inside of the tyres?

Anyone from windsor or in berkshire pleae help

I will call Peter tomorrow. I am a bit old fashioned.... if a company doesn't reply to emails, then what else don't they do? Thanks.

Anyone from windsor or in berkshire pleae help

I have emailed boxermotor three times for a service/cam quote via their website address. I haven't had a reply. They are losing business :-(

    clio 172 advise mpg etc

Around 20 miles, 60-70% motorway. I am not heavy footed but cruise at 60-70 mph (try doing more than that around the Thames Valley in the rush hour!) :)

    Anyone use Tesco Finest Warranty?

Some years ago I bought an Audi A4 from a local dealer. They 'sold' me their 'one year warranty' - It wasn't worth the paper it was written on. In retrospect I can see they passed their responsibility on to a third party, who had so many exceptions in the small print it was a waste of time...

Constant 44 mpg on my journey to work, and 47-48 on a long run (70 mph).

Do you change your driving style when you have nice wheels fitted?

When I had my Golf, and previous cars, I used to park as close to the pavement as possible, maybe 2-3 inches. Now, after losing a couple of wing mirrors, I park 9-12 inces from the kerb. I don't worry so much about the rims, but I don't think the low profle tyres on my 179 will take as much...

    MPG!?

    Shame... :rasp:

    MPG!?

TBH that's not a lot of MPG these days. Do you thrash about with the pedal to the floor? ;) Seriously... I think this thread is showing how different MPG figures can be - presumably by the way the car is driven.
  26. jonathanedew

    Crashed :( non sport

That's a great shame. Sounds like you take pride in your driving. Good luck in the future.

    MPG!?

My 172 gives me 47 mpg on a long run and 42-44 mpg around town. I think I must be light-footed? ;-)

    clio 172 guide

How the hell do you keep the front wheels on the ground when your right foot is on the floor? I have trouble keeping my 172 on a straight line! Wahey! :)

    Number plates - Whats legal?

I see soooo many plates illegally spaced... at least one or two a day. Are they really being actively monitored by the police?

    36k service (g'friend is a tool)

Ditto the original post :( My 2003 172 has 35,500 on the clock and need cams/service soon. Just had a quote from Renault dealer: Service = £298.32 Cambelt & Auxillary belts = £771.86 Mot = £53.10 Total - £1123.28 We have currently a promotion which i can offer which will bring the price...
