172 and 36,000 miles - what to do?

  RS 172+
I bought a 2003 172 with 34k on the clock about 6 weeks ago. Really good price but it's now due for a 36k service and the belt change :(

My works fitter has offered to do the belts change for £280 and the service for £140. I know this is a good deal, but do I risk giving the car to a non-specialist mechanic?

I have been looking at K-tec to do this, and also to do a remap with Apex lowering at the same time.

The service and belt change is quite a bit more expensive.

What would you do?

Do you trust your works fitter? If so, then let him do it. Its not actually a difficult job that requires alot of skill to do its just time consuming because of all the *****ing about you have to do, its the labour that makes it an expensive job not parts.

  It's A Reno
Does he have all of the required locking tools etc?.......I doubt it.
If he hasn't, then hello to some big top end repair work..
