First of course I removed the diamond from the car. This was really easy and I didn't need any tools... I just pulled it off. Makes me wonder why it hasn't been nicked...
Bought my 172 with 35k on the clock for £3995 in February 2009.
New belts, 36k service, lowering, K-tec filter, rear shocks, remap, MOT, personal plates, heater fan, reversing light switch... I've added another £1900 to the bill.
Has it been worth it? :cry:

I wouldn't dream of fitting anything but bog standard plates to my vehicle.
Think about it... it just gives the police a legit reason to pull you over because they don't like the look of your lowered suspension or whatever. Apart from which it's just chav to have displaced characters or...

I have had the fault for about a month now. First I had our company fitter have a look at it. He said he thought it was the resistor pack, despite me telling him the fan made a banging noise for a few days before it finally packed up. He also managed to blow the 30 amp...
Took my car into a Renault dealer this morning to get the blower fixed. I already checked the resistor pack and that's OK. Before the fan stopped working it started to make knocking noises so I am pretty sure that's where the problem lay.
With this information given to the garage, they said...

I think you will find an RS great fun to drive... I know I do. Not much to match the thrill of whipping around bends on a de-restricted B road - just what, IMHO, the car was made for.
If it's cheap thrills and fun you are after, go for it!
How do the Toyos wear? I have heard stories of them lasting only 10,000 kms? Interested because I need to replace mine soon and undecided between PE2's, F1's or Proxes.
