So just how do you go about changing a driveshaft guys? I havent got a clue and need to do mine asap as my car clunks as its out of gear or not under acceleration - not nice and ive had all the mounts checked etc!!
No it wont - you just have to take your time and not do anything silly. You will need a set of torx tools - these are available from most places and are pretty cheap - these (in case you didnt know) are just a different form of screwdriver. To be honest it would be best if you had someone there...
All you need to do is tighten the tensioner bolt in the top pully cog. This will move the cog upwards towards the roof of the engine thus making the belt tighter - that will be the answer to all of your problems. However, gaining access is an absoloute b**ch - you will need to remove the bonnet...
Well, ive rocked it from side to sid eand it dont move! but it did begin to knock slightly as i went over the speed humps near my home..... is it easy to change?
Well, thanks to all your advice on dog bone mounts but it turns out that this wasnt the problem. My car still goes knock, knock, knock as im out of gear or just coasting and not accelerating. This noise however has almost dissapeared now that ive taken my 17s off and put the standard phase 2s...
Tried Paul @ infini car and he said he didnt have any - he quoted me more than renault anyway!!!!!!! Good guy though, and good company - not knocking him at all!!!!!
No, the centre covers you get only fit renaults so you cant just buy a blank set. Also, it would appear only renault supply then readily and they dont come with any logos on them. Wish it were that simply mate!
Indeed, it would be the end for all cliokind. Our little babies would be thrown into the eternal abyss of ugliness from wence it would never return. I think i just saved the world - tis a good feeling. :)
Thats what i need to hear - i took one for the honourable clio team and my life is now enriched because of it.
There would have no excuse to nick his - that would have been really tight - it felt sh*t when i found id lost one!
I am now in two minds. I have just returned form my lunch break where i visited my local Renault Garage and did the honourable thing and paid £28 for a PLASTIC! centre cover for the standard phase 2 alloys. Now i could quite easily have nicked one of the lad down my road- hmmmmm, i did not do...
Garage down the road just offered me one for £22 Quid - does it have another name though in case he has quoted me for another thing because in his book it wasnt called a dog bone mount.....

Whats the real name for this? Really helpful chap gave me details of how to find it etc - is it easy to replace? Expensive to get a new one? Everything rattles like a biatch at the momment, when i take it out of gear and stop accelerating there is an almighty knowcking noise towards the front...
Bloody hell - thanks for the advice - to be honest, im thinking of selling her in a couple of months so i may just fill it in and spray it although, i dont want it to look worse than it already does.... hmmm, i need a good price and a good garage (the stuff that dreams are made out of). I didnt...
Am tackling my slightly rusted rear arch tommorow. Its only bubbled under the paint ver slightly - have got some rust repair stuff and the correct body colour paint from renault - so what the best way to tackle the prob?
erm okaaaaay, im spraying my wing mirror trims this weekend, sure i dont need all that to do a simple job like that! Mind you - a body shop wouldnt chardge too much to spray mirrors?
