Lowering wont affect it fella,
mines been slammed for over 2years never its done any damage, so you can rule that one out,
Have you checked the driveshaft itself on the passenger side? it may have popped out abit, causing the biteing point higher,

first time ever i done a clutch on my sport whilst doing a conversion on it, and its still going strong, done over 1500 miles since its running and yet to come across a problem.
So if it was easy on a sport it must be simple on a 1.2,
Are you any good with a spanner?
gearbox is much easier on a 1.2 than a sport, and it was the first time i done it, so technically you should be fine.
What mike said, but i did it on the floor in the back car park, only struggle i got was putting it back in, dont see the point in paying...
Im not 100% sure, this is were me knowledge goes blank, iv done the whole engine swap myself and sorted every problem but things like this im useless at.
If it helps the 3 bolts line up exactly to the holes on the box, so what i think could happen is the metal bit as bent slightly, but cant...

because if its easily do-able myself then il give it a go, but if not il get a mate to fit it and il do assemble it all back on the car..
Do you know if the oil seal is exactly like a normal 172 one? as im running 1.2 shafts on a cup gearbox
Just take them to a garage to get them re-balanced and they will use metal strips, some garages use those clip ones as they are easily removed, and some use the strips which i think are permanent fix, unless you proper jackhammer them off
Box got filled up in January after a clutch change put about 3.5litres in,
now the car has only been on the road 2 1/2 weeks and after a trip to Northwich on friday they said you have a slight leak were the passenger drive shaft enters the box, so though id top it up today just to keep on top...

look under the car and you will see like a metal run about 2-3 wide and about 1.5m long running from the front to half way, jack it on that as its MUCH stronger ..
My way apparantly is the wrong way, but its the safest way as also it doesnt bend your sill..
