Official UK Mk2 172s. Traction control

Hi Guys, I received my 2002 MKII in October this year (ordered mid August) from a UK Reno dealer. It has ESP/ASR fitted as standard. I think Reno have started to fit as standard in the last couple of months. They would have appeared to change the options avail on the 172 (eg. Cruise, sunroof...

Vibration of Steering Wheel at 40mph+

Hi Timebomb, You never said in your post if this problem appeared suddenly or if has been getting gradually worse? If the prob appeared suddenly think back if you hit any big pot-holes/kerbs etc.? Have you had the front wheels off recently? If so, perhaps Nick may be closer to the problem. If...

    172 MKII Headlight Beam Adjustment

Hi Windsor, Found the white allen screws you talked about on the top of each level motor unit. A 6mm allen key turned clockwise adjusts the lights higher. Think Ive managed to find a compromise between dipped beam length without being flashed by on-coming motorists. Not convinced this...

    172 MKII Headlight Beam Adjustment

Hi Paul, I kindo though that they may adjust at startup also. I need to park it with rear wheels on ramps, start up and see if the beams are pointing sky high!:D Tommorrow morning I will find an incline, stop/start and listen out for that wee whirring noise. I remember the noise the 1.6 16V...

    First gear thud

Hi sjd172, Ive done about 850 miles. I notice occasionally a very slight thud when engaging 1st gear, similar to clutch drag. If you press the clutch down to the boards and preferrably when stationary the symptoms generally dont appear. Suspect is due to new gearbox/ syncromesh. Incidently, I...

    172 MKII Headlight Beam Adjustment

Hi, The 172 2002 Xenon headlights are pretty awesome in terms of output when compared to the old halogens. However I feel that the beam adjustment appears to be on the low side, especially when driving down into dips in the road. At higher speeds (normal) I always want to click on the main...

    Possible Probs with Import 172`s

mailto:m@thew">m@thew, Have you noticed any difference in performance with the twin CAT fitted. Would be interesting to see the comparison in RR figures with two standard cars using both exhaust variants. This may prove your theory Captain Slarty about any possible restrictions?

    Possible Probs with Import 172`s

Hi Guys, Got me curious, so just popped out and stuck the camera under the car. As you can see from the state of my chassis, my 172 MK11 is pretty new (850 miles from UK Renault dealer, Oct 2002). I would appear to have a single manifold pipe/cat! So there would appear to be two variants in...

    Clio 172 2002 misfiring

Thanks Guys, You have put my mind at rest. From what you say, this certainly appears to be a "feature". So, no point taking it my local dealer to fix .....I was actually thinking I was starting to go senile (early 40s you see) and couldnt drive properly any more!!!

    Clio 172 2002 misfiring

Ive recently taken delivery of a 2002 Clio 172. I find that when starting the car from cold (over-night), it starts immediately and pulls away strongly. However after the car has been used and left for a few hours and cooled down, when I start up it fires immediately but when moving off there is...
