There are a few members with the Brembo upgrade. i know someone who had them on his track prepped 172, and the reality is you can get just as good braking performance by spending half the price of a new set of Brembo. Unless of course you just have to have the real red calipers.
Yep, can't speak highly enough of the team at GDI. Its not just Andy, but Mark who is sound as a pound, and Becky whos always helpful and smiling. Excellent customer service!
As some of you well know my 172 has had a bit for work done on it recently by the good people at GDI. Basically after having my car for a while I was a little bored with the performance and it was getting a little predicatable. Even without the traction control (Euro import). So after a few...
Well....
Started with a decent 172 which was making 175bhp peak power, so I had a head start anyway. The list of parts is:
K&N Panel filter - the standard intake system is perfect so why mess with it
GDI Fast road cam- nothing wild, but a bit more duration than standard
GDI Remap
GDI Cat...
There are several 'tuning' companies on here, the best thing is to discuss with them your requirements and get some idea of costs. Most companies will happy to do this, but a few aren't as forthcoming when it comes to actually getting the work done. As regards actually tuning your 182, you'll...
It'll be fine to limp home. my only advise when the problem was diagnosed was no harsh mid corner accelerating, just get sme RAC membership and you'll be fine.
My CV joints (and drive shafts) were replaced this week on my 195, the banging sound is common place. The garage i took mine to (GDI) said the shafts would last 2 weeks to a month before going pop so you'll be fine.
I had a chat regarding these two with a local tuner the other day, his recommendations were: PE2 for road use, or Paradas for road and track use, otherwise there just as good as each other.
Can't remember of the top of my head, but its alot. GDI quote around 180ft/lbs on their website. Also the engine pulls from much lower down so driving is around town is a piece of pi$$.
It is indeed, the basic package is £1550, but I spent alot more. As the Cam belt was done while the engine was apart and the exhaust isn't included either.
Well....
Picked her up last night from GDI, and boy what a machine. The sum total of the rebuild includes:
Cams
Inlet manifold
ECU remap
New GDI spec 2.25 inch exhaust (cat back)
High flow panel filter :rasp:
The all important peak power figure is now 195 bhp at 7500 rpm  . The...
