They were still a massive hit for Ford, it was the car as a package, the RS badge, the looks, the turbo engine.
Being a dynamic wondercar surely isn't the only basis for appreciation?

Theres a cult surrounding Fast Fords like few other brands - the 80's models bring back a great deal of nostalgia for motoring of that era for many people. They're working class heroes essentially.

I'm in the same camp as you, I love how mine drives standard and am reluctant to mod my GTI.
That's not very reassuring. I've just sent an iphone away to life style group (after appealing their refusal of my claim initially).
Thankfully, since they decided to accept my claim my iphone has stopped working altogether so they will surely replace it!
