The gassing is cured with a second wipedown a few hours later, or using a damper applicator to spread it really thinly.
Either way, it's worth the effort.

It's awful and the bumpers weren't clearcoated at all!
It's ridiculously hard - it even needed a couple of passes from S3/Wool and I'm not soft when I'm using it - really edging it and working the abrasives!!!
