Yeah i liked the Cup, it handles better than the VTS but the performance didnt impress me so much. Didnt feel much quicker than the VTS to be honest.
I was expecting it to be real mad with the power to weight ratios....
VTS - 130 bhp per tonne
Cup - 171 bhp per tonne
ha ha ha ha!! TVRs against Hot hatches, no contest. My mate has a Lotus Elise 135 and we came up against a TVR Griffin once. As you know Elise 135s are rapid cars, 0-100 in about 15 secs, well this Griffin totally took the pi55 out of us.
Type-R is faster, sounds superb and much bigger inside. The traction is superb, i booted it in 2nd coming off a roundabout and where a 172s back end would slip out, it just carried on, superb car.
Im amazed about how many people complain about rattles and squeaks! My VTS is a 2001 Y-reg and done 30,000 miles, it has no rattles or squeaks. I thought Clios were much better built than Saxos???
Thanks for the replies! The comment about the VTSs MPG is spot on! When you drive it hard, it drinks juice like a Ferrari!
So according to you lot, a 172 is best, what colour? I have a black VTS and have to clean it every day! Silver is nice.
The only thing stopping me is the £15,995 price tag of the Civic Type-R. What sort of BHP do 172s get on the rollers as standard? My VTS got 102 bhp at the wheels.
Hello there people, as you can probally tell by my name i currently own a Saxo VTS but please dont hold that against me! Im considering buying a new car soon and the 172/Cup is a contender.
The 172 Cup seems great with 171 bhp per tonne and only £12,995 but no ABS! Sounds damm right scary to...
No, you wont be spanking VTRs, their power to weight is the same as a 1.6 Dynamique so it will be close. And as for a Dynamique chasing a VTS!! I dont think so. VTSs do 15.9 1/4 miles as standard, not far off a 172!
I dont intend any of this to be hostile by the way, just stating facts.
VTRs were 90 bhp as standard, then 98 bhp but now their 100 bhp. Their alot lighter than Clios too due to the crap build quality as well. VTRs have 108 bhp per ton, a good match for a 1.6 Dynamique.
