Ive heard Peugeot play down their cars to keep insurance costs down. The 106 GTi is group 13 while the VTS is group 14, dont understand how they work that out when both cars have the SAME engine!!

The 106 GTi IS tested with a driver,passenger and half a tank, hence the 0-62 time of 8.7 secs!! The VTS is tested with driver only and half a tank and is quoted at 7.8 secs 0-62 mph in the brochure. Considering the VTS is about £3-4 k cheeper than a 172 i think its superb value for money. It...

So, Clio 1.6 16V - 0-60 in 9.6 secs VTS - 0-60 in 7.6 secs That means the VTS takes 15 secs to do 60-100 mph and the Clio takes 13.4 secs!

Well if his Clio 1.6 is pulling 100 mph in 23-24 secs, my VTS must be doing it in 18 secs cos my mate has one and i consistantly toast it.

Couldnt agree more mate. Williams is a legend of a car, best Clio ever in my view. VTS will destroy any other 1.6 apart from a Caterham!!

More like 30 secs, i dont want to cause trouble so dont take this the wrong way but i roast Clio 1.6s.

The Valver isnt listed in Evo;)

16.5 secs 0-100 on a Valver!!! No chance!! Thats equal to a Focus RS, Alfa 147 GTA and Golf R32! Absolutely no chance.

No way my friend, sorry not being funny but a Clio 1.6 16V will not do 0-100 in 23 secs! Are you telling me its as quick as a VTS/106 GTi ??! No chance. For a start it has 10 bhp less and secondly its about 100 kg heavier!

Thats not a standard Valver then! It has a de-cat! I reckon the Valver will be right bang on VTS performance, the Willy has 150 bhp and Evo timed a standard one at 20 secs to 100 mph so a 137 bhp Valver would be about 22/23 secs to 100 mph.

Just cos it has 200 more cc doesnt make it heavier! Surely the Willy engine is a bored out Valver engine isnt it?

Im interested in BHP,TORQUE in LB/FT, and Kerb Weight. Clio RSi Clio 16v Clio Williams I know Evo timed the Williams at 20 secs to 100 mph and Top Gear timed the RSi at 30 secs to 100 mph, how quick is the Valver?

No their abit quicker than that, about 45 secs id say. The Clio 1.6 16v is let down alot by its weight, thats why it can only match a Saxo VTR to 100 mph (32 secs).

23/24 secs 0-100 for a 1.6 16v!! No chance, if you look in older issues of Evo (about a year ago) your see they list the 1.4 16v Si and 1.6 16v RSi with 98 and 110 bhp respectitvly. The 110 bhp 1.6 16v got 32 secs to 100 when tested by Evo. The 1.4 is a tad slower but not much. A 1.2 16v would...

VW Polo GTi - 18.0 secs!!!!! That has to be b****cks! I know their heavy but they still have 125 bhp and 112 ib/ft of torque!

Fun web site but dont take it all as 100% truth. VTSs are quicker than 16.1 down the 1/4 mile and so are Williams.

Cup didnt do that well, 5th or 6th i believe.

Parkers is complete crap, dont bother looking. Autocar give the most accurate performance times.

When you hit 6000 rpm in the VTEC its bye bye 172, believe me, ive driven a CTR and a 172 Cup and CTR was hugely fast. The acceleration when the 2nd cam profile comes on is awesome.

Im well up for this, id pay £20 for a ticket.

Type R is a safer bet then
