First time I've read this, not a bad little hatch. Wouldnt mind one myself but never been a huge fan of the handling on the Golf / A3 chassic, only driven in 2wd form though
How hard have you found the paint? Had a little play with P1 by hand and it didn't seem as hard as the Golf
C2 used on wet glass lasted me longer than that, something wrong there somewhere. Think I got approx 4months on windscreen and longer on sides.
What's your prep and application?
As long as its a painted finish it will bond. Will make washing hem easier but dont think it's heat resistant so won't last all that long like a dedicated wheel sealant.
Typically waxes aren't quite as fussy, but some sealants are fine also, just look into getting a combo that works together with oils and polymers etc.
Typically having fillers under something will always shorten the wax or sealants overal durability, but it's pretty minimal. Most pre wax...
The IPA wipedown is to remove any oils and fillers to check the level of correction achieved, as sometimes these will mask swirls and give a false image.
The other reason to use IPA is where certain waxes or sealants require a perfectly clean base to bond directly to the paint.
Radio 2? What's that. Lol missed that, but I guess most know it as mopping as its a typical term used by bodyshops. And most people think it will fill their scratches!
Jay not used it but been considering trying it. Everything reminds me of carpro reload. I've got tripple and reload on my...
If you use IPA you will remove all the fillers and base set down by the previous product meaning your wax or sealant will be applied directly to the paint, so you're not really getting the benefits of using an al in one like tripple or srp.
Both these products set a base for waxing or sealing...
Like Glasur is a slight step up from carbon, concours is another step up in all aspects. Even durability isn't that bad.
I guess shield and BOS have got a similar oily feel to Illusion and just feels that bit special when applying.
John, I could be tempted into selling my DAS6 pro if you would be interested. Would give me the excuse I need to get a rotary. I'll PM you details if it is of interest.
^ that's very true. I haven't had a piece of clay like that for many years.
Kyle, when using tar removers, what's your method? Spray, dwell and remove. Or do you use a MF wipe down?
Depends on how much contamination is on the panel when you use it. If you fully decontaminate with tar and iron removers before using clay it will last ages. It's done when it's dropped once, has large bits of contamination in it and can't be folded into a clean piece of clay
I took you as quoting lather a water with lube? Someone that isn't sure or up to speed as much as some others so may take the thought that not much suds means it a bad / por shampoo. My concern is more for the novices not knowing any better. If I've misread your quote, my apologies.

Ampulla for the pots. Decent sealed pots that aren't too expensive. Are you still on for Friday night as I'll bring the sample with me in one of their pots.

RyG the sample I have of spirit for you did the same. It's been in the fridge ever since decanting and has firmed up again
MatthewR I have a original 20 pot of desire and love it, so if desireable is the same then it's a bargain. I used one of the limited 500 run pots of desire and it was...
always struggled with Hex and menz with DA on heavy correction, probably technique, on softer paints, or finishing down from heavy correcting always did OK. Got some great results with hex and menz with the EP800
used the middle scholl pad and middle AF polish as a single stage on the Golf at...
gally what combo you using on the DA at the moment? I need to get new pads anyway as borrowing the AF pads and polishes from a friend at the moment just to get back into it. All I have of my own right now is scholl spot pads that I'm fairly happy with.
Found the milwaukee for £166 excluding...
Do I buy another rotary?
I've had some in the past and my technique was better (dont read good) than it is with DA. I went back to a DA pro version as I typically used it with glazes and pre wax cleansers which it's been fine with. Borrowed some compounding pads and polishes to give correction...
I don't know people in the trade nor know where to find out, just what I hear or read on forums, so I'm not certain enough to say that all those similar products are the same
Please don't confuse opinion with fact. Stating a product is poor for reasons that doesn't make it so is misleading and cofusing to those with lesser knowledge or experience than yourself.
If you prefer a shampoo that is very sudsy that's fine, but doesn't make those hat are not poor...
Chemical guys direct orders are shocking, only ordered a few bits from them and things have either taken weeks before sent out for delivery or very poorly packaged and arrive damaged
