Did mine today, which is odd. I peeled the sticker off and then used white spirit, don't know if it was the right thing to remove the stickyness but it worked and then followed that with Poorboys Natural Look Dressing. Worked a treat for me.

Have you checked the bonnet sensor? When you say opened the bonnet, did you realise the catch and then open or what?

I've got a 350D as the 400D wasn't out when I bought mine and it's a great camera, still need to get the full potential out of it though. The range of the lens recommended by Pete sounds about right for the thing you want it for I would say.

Not tried the Aquawax before but I use Prima Hydro which is the same to apply and it's really handy if your pushed for time.
