Exactly the same speeds that mine got loud when they went last week! Its the rear bearings. Easiest way to change them is to buy the whole disk with the bearings pressed in.
Yeah but you can still have them rotating the wrong way round
For example the outside tread on my fronts is curving forward and on the rear its curving backwards
As above. I noticed last night that the outside grip on the front tyres is facing the opposite way to that on the rears.
I can't see anything obvious on there indicating the tyre direction. Does anyone know if theres a certain way round they should face?
Thanks for the help everybody.
Just to confirm it was the rear bearings. They were totally knackered. Probably my fault for doing them up FT instead of using a torque wrench.
You will not see any engine gains with changing sparks plugs as long as the ones you have are producing a good strong spark i.e the car runs as it should and the plugs arn't too old.
A rear diffusser will not just cause an increase in downforce at the rear of the car. The diffuser is there to aid reintroducing the underbody airflow to the surrounding airflow. Making this more efficient increases the airflow under the car and causes downforce to be increased under the car as...
94k. Its not due the cambelt for ages either  I havn't had a chance to look at this tonight as I had to replace the rear disks!!
What should I be expecting to happen when I unplug the solenoid?
f0xy. The ticking noise i'm getting is nowhere near as loud or fast as that but it could...
A hollow ticking noise from the left of the engine (I think). Haven't spent much time diagnosing it yet but Ive got a feeling thats what it is.
Your welcome to listen to it if your still at VW in Ciren.
Think my dephaser is on the way out but I wanted to see if its the solenoid causing it.
What test is best to do to confirm its the dephaser and how do I go about cleaning the solenoid?
IMO its quite easy to do if theres two of you. One under the car with a long extension and one in the engine bay holding the other end of the bolt. Ive got quite big hands and its quite fidely but its really not too bad.
Well I can see from a few theads on here that it could be a loose spark plug so I'm going to try that tomorrow evening.
Is there a good way of checking if it is the dephaser pulley?
Also mine sounds nothing like some of the videos posted on here for dephaser pulleys. You can barely hear...
I've got a feeling I know what everyone is going to say but I just wanted to check!
Just went out and started the car and there is a hollow ticking sort of noise coming from the left hand side of my engine. Would this be the dephaser starting to go or could it be something else?
