A damaged thrust bearing as far as i'm aware will makes a noise in neutral with the clutch engaged but the noise will stop when the clutch is depressed.
Keep putting off getting one of these off Mikey, he must be getting pissed off with me constantly asking him about it! Might get one next month when i get paid!
Could be that then.
I noticed last night that one of my rear disk bearings has leaked all of its grease out of the ruber seal so i'm inclined to think its that thats knackered. The whining has become more noticable at other speeds as well now and increases on left hand turns which to me is...
My CV boot did come off a few months ago but it still had most of its grease in there and its been repacked. Its definately one of my options though I can't hear it making any noise's when doing sharp turns.
Whats the best way of checking the CV joint?
I'm starting to think its possibly...
This is a weird one.
My cars developed a very quiet humming noise over the last few days. It seems to be most noticable at 80mph and around 40.
If I depress the clutch so the engine is idling whilst travelling at these speeds the noise persists so I know its not engine related. However it...
The engines been designed to run optimal with 98ron+ but will run with lower octane due to the knock sensor. Reducing the risk of knock will reduce the risk of longterm engine damage but it may be a minimal effect anyway.
I'm sure your right in what you say but as I drive my car in its...
The RON number in basic terms measures the fuels tendency to self combust whilst under pressure. The higher the octane rating the less willing it is to burn and therefore self ignite and burn at an uncontrollable rate whilst being compressed.
Running anything lower than 98ron will mean that...
lol. Everytime ive played the 'See how long a can go without filling my car up' game and inadvertently end up at a station that doesn't do higher octane fuel ive regretted it!
Lower MPG, a rough as nails idle and is rough to drive at lower rpms. V-power is only 5p more at my local station...
Mine runs like a pile of poo on anything other than super as well.
I asked my professor at uni about using higher octane fuel as he consults on engine designs for BMW, VW etc and he said that its not just about getting extra power from the engine but ensuring that it runs correctly at higher...
No problem. I always have it round my neck and under the wetsuit that way theres no way of losing it! Definately worth trying in the bath as well just incase you get a faulty one.
Had a look tonight (its only taken me a year to get round to it!) The crash protection part of the bumper was over tightened to the bumper pulling it in and deforming it. Looks allot better now!!
I trust my key in there and touch wood its been fine so far!!
Looking at the link thats exactly the same bag ive got. I know you can get chepaer ones but I wouldn't want to risk it.
Re-routing the cable so it only has small bends in it also helps. I use silicone sealant for the gasket as the paper ones were starting to piss me off!!
I've noticed this before but a friend pointed it out to me again today. If you were to take the number plate light as being in the centre of the bumper (which it is) and then half each half. Right on that line on both sides my bumper indents ever so slightly.
Is this becuase its french and...
I got pros and they lowered the car quite a bit especially at the rear. I'm glad I didn't go for sportlines as my car wouldn't get in and out the car park at work.
