What are you asking about - the distance from where to where. From John o'groats to lands end is 874miles but I think that would be with a direct line from one to the other so it would be a bit more that that to drive.

Sounds like a wheel bearing mate. Jack the car up and hold the wheel at 12 o'clock and 6o'clock. If you can rock the wheel at all then the wheel bearing has gone. Check all the wheels as it may not necessarily be the one you think.

I was just wondering what peoples opinons on higher milage valvers in terms of reliability and the likelyhood of things going wrong. The reason I'm asking is that there is a Mk1 1.8 16v for sale near me which is a J-reg with 115,000 miles on the clock but I just wanted to see what valvers tend...

On my Mk1 1.4 I was getting a similar sort of thing due to a leak at the rocker gasket. There was quite a bit of oil around the rocker cover and some in the spark plug wells. I just changed the gasket and I've not had it leak since.

I think Brad_RT had his car in at GDi for a 2.0 williams automatic engine conversion but there was some osrt of problem with it and I think he may even have ended up using a 1.8 RSi engine. I can't remember exactly what the problem was but it may have just been that the box couldn't cope with...

yup, sorry I forgot to say that I was talking about mk1 clios.

RT comes with either 1.4 engine or 1.8 (though there aren't many 1.8s). It also has colour coded bumpers, foglights and comes with electric windows, mirrors etc. It can come in a 3 door or 5 door. I would say it's definately worth going for an RT as it's got a bit more power and looks loads...

When I got mine done at a garage it cost me £70 for one wheel bearing. If you are able to take the hub off yourself you could get it done for about £30 though.
