Thanks guys. Sounds possible. Previous owner fitted them - probably 3.5 yrs and 25k ago. One of the rears needed replaced earlier this month as it was leaking
Evening gents,
I've had my 172 Cup for couple of years now and love it.
When I bought it, it had standard suspension with RE050A on front and Toyos on the rear. It handled great, really pointy with no discernible understeer on the road.
Since then I fitted eibach sportlines, Pilot Sport 3...

Evo seem to think it's going to make production. Please please please!
Do some searches on the rstuner 98 remap here.
I found that with mine it:
Idled better
Was much smoother to drive cold
More responsive / pull low down
People have stuck them on the dyno and max bhp isn't really improved but I found that my car is so much better to drive now.
You can buy an...
I agree, it looks cracking.
There's lots posted on here about suspension. Aside from the £70 a 98 Ron map will cost you, I think it's the best money you will spend on your car.
A lot of people opt for new OEM dampers and either eibach or cooksport springs. I have eibachs and like them. It's...
Values will always be subjective to a point. I sold a nice P1 three years ago for around £8k. It was maybe a little low, I didn't advertise but it was an easy sale at a fair price. There's now examples up on Pistonheads with double the miles for £15k. I don't think they will sell for that but...
Midlothian here. Nice car, hope you enjoy it. I personally wouldn't wrap but each to their own. Good tyres, springs, geo and an rstuner 98 ron map. Save rest for fuel!
Try Bridgestone RE050A. I had them on my Cup before I fitted the current PS3s. Excellent tyres, I think even better than PS3 for outright dry grip. I will probably go back to them for my next set.
They were the tyres fitted to the 265 Trophy when it broke the ring record back in the day.
My money is that this will make it to production albeit in a limited run.
As people interested enough in Renault to join a forum on them then I think we should all be very excited that in this day in age Renault have been able to green light a project like this. A halo model is great for the...
Good for you, a bargain fun car. If it was me I would only do cheap jobs on it - enjoy it till it blows up. It will soon cease to be a bargain if you pile lots of money in. Very easy to do that.
sburrell - your car looked quick. I was up last half hour or so to watch my brother in the R26. He caught a little of the aftermath of the scooby / evo prang on video.
Agree with that Daz. Cars always cost money (particularly performance cars) and often it's better the devil you know. You could well end up needing to spend money on the Clio you replace the Megane with.
I've got a 172 Cup, tax is about £265 a year. Considerably more than my insurance!
Better on fuel than the Megane. I average about 34 mpg but can get over 40 mpg on the motorway.
A lot of the cheap ones need belts / dephaser / water pump. I personally prefer to buy one needing it done (price...
Yeah that was interesting. If you look at some of the Clio related threads on pistonheads is amazing how many owners of 911s etc say that they either have or had a Renaultsport Clio. Speaks volumes about the cars.
I would struggle to turn down an offer of a Cayman GT4 though purely because of...
Noticed the article when it went up and suspected it was someone from here. Recognised a few names posting too.
Great article and comments after - well done!
Don't underestimate the power of pistonheads / evo mag etc. Articles like that can influence values and desirability. Somebody write one...
