the 4-1 mani on the 172's provides high RPM go, the 182 4-2-1 gives the lower end go, there is a difference , but not really a gain, just as Gray says a different type of torque curve.
You need the correct ohm rated resistor to replace the airbag otherwise the service light will come on - I can send you some with it if you want?
IIRC they are £200 per resistor ;)
