Re: Project 172 **** ITB'S - 204bhp *** February Redline Feature
Best off heat cycling properly mate asap, that can draw the best of out any braking system.
Hi, have just seen this.
Really no point in asking an open question on a forum like this, if you want our help fire us an email / give us a call. A blowing exhaust will be nothing to do with the service work we carried out.
I didn't carry out the service in question so it will have been James...
Positives.
- The handling, power delivery, grip and immense pace it can carry through bends.
- The sheer fun of driving it.
- The fact it can outperform a vast array of significantly more expensive cars.
- The MPG when pottering.
- General running costs and ease of maintenance.
- Subtle...
The 197 manifold in theory will 'rock' the power/torque delivery towards the top end of the RPM range. This will more than likely cause the bottom end of the RPM range to suffer, in return for higher peak power at the top end. The attack angle of the TB would also allows the manifold to deliver...
Not a comparison you can make Ed, it completely changes the power delivery midrange, in some places we gained where troughs existed before and vice versa. With proper mapping we'll be able to tell for sure.
edit. beaten to it.
Terrible news danny, only saw you a couple of hours before!! I have had a fire extinguisher in the back of my car ever since seeing an ITB Clio car burn to the ground at Snet (I think you were there Danny) as it makes the difference between a small fire and total loss. Hope you managed to get it...
Its PS not bhp ;)
Cat, Manifold, 'RS' inlets, ECU software & cal, just to name a few.
Nope, totally fine for MOT.
172's have 4-1 mani, 182's have 4-2-1 mani. I have a graph of how a 182 mani effects a 172 when fitted with a before and after somewhere - I'll try and dig it out.
We have a 182 & a 172, both of which we gladly take people out in day to day, at meets or on trackdays to help people make up their own mind. Unfortunately we do not have the posh insurance (yet) where anyone can drive the company cars. :(
About right. The last 5 182's we have carried the complete works out on have RR'd before at anything between 160 - 172 ATW, ended up at 180-183 afterward. You can't put an exact figure on it as every car is different.
Its not all about peak figures though. Low RPM output see great improvements...
A huge waste of money in my opinion. Stick with a recessed single exit exhaust of some sort if you want it visible, with a 182 style surround to tidy it up :)
