Sorry to hear this - must admit, my 172 brakes sometimes lock on - leave it parked on my drive with handbrake on (only because I need it as close to house as poss - live in london) and sometimes when I move it "clunks" as I dont usually drive in the week.
Wish it didnt happen but it does, only...
OK, for some reason my 172 auto lights have decided to stop working. Now i know they can be disabled (by turning on and off the lights twice right?) but I dont remember doing thing and Ive tried it again to re-enable it and nothing. Is this the correct procedure - was driving at the time...
I think it does come down to when the car was imported too. Something to do with the date on the CoC. If it was 2002 onwards then by law it has to be covered for 2 years (before 2002 think it was 1year) and as many people have said, Renault will give you 3 years if you ask (not a dealer)
It all to do with the revs really. Get the best power for the speed. If you change from 4th to 3rd at 37mph then youre going to end up at around 3500rpms (complete guess), but if you drop to 2nd youll hit the magic 5000rpms (another guess) and thats where the big power band is.
£150 per week does sound pretty cheap if youre not sharing but then I can only go on West London prices which I gather is more expensive than North.
Also, South of the river tends to cause a price drop (still a thing about north of river better than south for some reason)
If you share then you...
My cars just hit the 9K mark and my types are still fine (can say how fine but very legal) and that includes a track day too !! But I must admit, my driving is more motorway than lanes so wear is much less.
I went for T70 NYL which ends up as T 70NY L which I like as my name is Tony and initials are TL. Wanted 70NY but that was £40,000 and this on was £250 :)
I will take 2 spaces when there are plenty, but Ill NEVER take a disabled space. Anyway, what I hate is when you park correctly (for example at the end of a row) and you park so far over that the passenger side is very close to the wall (not a chance of opening the door) so that you give loads...
One thing you can do is make sure they are lighter, and then get a thiner tyre so that the actually radius stays the same. This is also a good idea so you dont screw your speedo some.
Roamer, maybe you think I was harse to say I was glad of the outcome, but its about time people acting stupidly got caught and not the innocent bystander. Usually what happens is that she/he would cut someone up and that person would swerve and crash their own car, nice to see the ones driving...
Sorry, have to agree with rhys on this. He was driving like an utter prick. Its a track day not a race or a demolition derby. You have to respect everyone else on the track and not put them at risk - he couldnt give a flying f**k about anyone else. I was soooo glad when it rolled - lmao -...
RB, If I disarm the car and open a door the alarm will never be rearmed and therefore cannot be set off. So if you disarm, open door and after a while your alarm goes off then something is wrong.
Personally, if youre not happy, pop down to your local Renault dealership and show them the problem.
Just seen the 172 advert again on TV and I think the silver 172 looks real nice with that black "Clio" number plate on the front.
Is it legal to have one made so its white (or silver :)) on black?
Its only every happened to me once and that was because I opened the door just as I disarmed it. If you disarm, then open the door its ok. Mine anyway. I do what you do, get out, fill up, lock car, pay, come back, unlock car and get in. All ok. I would wait 1 second before opening the door...
Ive noticed it, and I always forget to switch it off (except when on track - damn it gets hot in there). If youre flooring it and hit the demist button the car just looses power and its very noticable.
Ive not asked my dealer, just read the service book. But I think Ill hit 1year before I hit 12K miles so Ill call then. Will be in March tho. Guess if you follow the book you cant lose your warranty for late servicing tho.
