The hardest part about the job, I find, is keeping the steering wheel straight whilst you make adjustments. I guess having a friend holding the wheel steady would help though.

The battery feed from the battery to the alternator splits in two somewhere in the loom to power the starter. If this is faulty then it will cause the drain even when the alternator is off the car... this is why I suggested taking the starter live off to rule it out.

It will 100% be this. When you changed it, did you fit the new blue crank sensor and install the new loom section? If not, 100% your issue. Mick

Take it to a garage that knows what they're doing. If there's play in a road wheel then the road holding isn't going to be great. If a damper cannot hold the tyre to the road then this will reduce grip and again, road holding will be compromised.
