My girlfriends car (182) won't lock or unlock by the keys at all. The only way to lock it is using the button on the dash and then by locking the passenger door.
Renault say its down to the UCH unit as this controls the central locking.
As its a sealed unit, this has to be replaced, but as...
I've stuck with the Conti's. Did take into consideration that they are pretty boxfresh, but the way it was snapping felt like the rears were either way too hard, or there was a shock gone.
Took it for a blat this morning after i'd adjusted the pressures and the difference was like night and day.
The rears on the Cup were perilously close to the '3 points per tyre' mark....1.8mm to be exact.
Paired with 2 two nearly new fronts, the handling was decidely front end biased recently.
Had the new rears put on on thursday eve and was looking forward to a back roads drive down to Brighton...
Was sat in the traffic outside the Jag dealership in Guildford on Sat afternoon (about 4pm ish).
Was a brunette girl driving it. Noticed she looked as i looked as i went past.....prob because i'd just cleaned all the sodding salt off it and it was the only clean car on the road!
You woman Dave! Thats all part of the appeal....keeps you on your toes, and makes every wet weather drive an exhibition of slow sensible driving....a rare thing in a Cup.;)
Then again that blat thru Windsor Great park the other week definitely had me worried!
Re: Mk1 Hybrid Project
My god Jord. Haven't spoken to you for a while so reading this thread has been an epic catch up.
Glad to see you made it to Oulton. So you coming down this way after Chrimbo?
Why oh why do people consider the straight line "head to head" as the definitive test of a car's worthiness??
Is horsesh*te if you ask me. Outright power isn't the be all and end all when it comes to the Clio, its all about the driving experience you have.
I'd say, wait until the spring and...
Hell yeah! Thats commitment to the cause.
Was a cracking lil meet. Some very sketchy moments on those greasy roads....shame i missed the tunnel blats.:dapprove:
Cup had its yearly exam last week. Like last year, i took it to Renault Guildford thinking all would be fine.....
Hmmmm.
Like last year, i get told that a rear shock is weeping. The NSR one was gone last year. This year it was the OSR.
As i changed both of them last time it failed, it means a...
To be fair, most performance orientated cars are naff in the snow. Fat, low profile tyres and snow don't really get along.
This time of year kinda makes any quick car redundant on any sort of B-road.
Even when its dry its still slick from the bloody salt.
Unless you are one of the self...
The ABS warning light shouldn't be related to the thickness of the pads. That could be a fault.
The traction control warning light and service light came on in Clare's a while back and it went back to Renault 5 times. Renault claimed that it was her driving (????) but the lights mysteriously...
Oh yeah, i've heard about that jumping concrete...it ups and moves at random, even more so this time of year.
So really....what did you do? Nerf a high kerb or something?
There are plenty of companys out there who will do small local paint damage work on your driveway. Do a Google.
Only just seen this thread. My god....if i had a call from any garage looking after my car to say a mechanic had crashed it, i'd hit the fecking stratosphere!
And to see comments like "oh but whats the fuss? The insurance will cover it" is fecking insensitive to be honest.
Im sure if those...
Well i sure didn't buy it for its plushness and rattle free interior.....anyway, who the smeg is listening for the rattles when pushing it 10/10ths along the TT course or over the Welsh B-roads?
Im usually too busy to notice...
Seat belt buckle rattle
Various dash rattles
Drivers door glass rattle (it stops when you press against the glass)
Rear door card rattle
Clutch release bearing squeeks when cold
Clutch pedal creaks when hot
Oh and something still knocks/rattles in the engine bay/front suspension when going...
Woah woah WOAH there Alan lad! Only ONE weaker minded Cup owner converted mate....not two!
No im firmly stuck to my Cup mate. Not getting me out of that anytime soon.
I've driven a couple of 197's, one being an R27. Both were hugely impressive in terms of chassis dynamics. All four corners...
Lol....yeah yeah, alright, you have had me concede i like the look of your little number...but lets not push it.
Im not about to take a step backwards in the rapido stakes...hehe.;)
