join up for £10 and there is a buyers guide in the members section.
£4k is a good budget and you will be able to get a mint one for that.
usual stuff to look for is cambelt/tensioners have been replaced, brakes in good condition, suspension top mounts can have play/squeek, fsh, and stone...
that 1st one, standard car, mod it yourself so you know no corners have been cut.
dont like the zorst/wheels on the 2nd one.
or even better that manaco ph2 if you can get some coin off, keep it in the club.........
just read this whole thread, done a brill job, im not really into fords other than old rs ones and this has kept me interested so you must be doing somthing right lol
seen your car a few times in trafford park giving it beans and at meets, it sounds and goes really well.
keep up the good work :-)
i used to be into ice.
had 3 12" audiobahns in the boot of my clio, had about £750 worth of dynamat in the car and still blew the back window out at a show.
i soon lost intrest in subs and screens as soon as i could get insurance on a valver.
im not going to bother with coilovers yet.
just some springs and spacers will do me for now, which i have orderd today.
should be on my desk this time next week, hopfully get them on over the x-mas break and get some photos up using my x-mas present from the mrs :-)

fair play, im not knocking you for doing somthing different, i have been there spend £££££s on making cars my own and makin them fast but had loads of bother with highly tuned engines and different standard components giving up every time i used the car so just fell out of love with constantly...
Re: Project 172 **** ITB'S - 204bhp *** Sausage filter fitted Page 14
looking good mate, lol at the ear plugs, i had them for my valver, motorways were a killer.
then how ever much for the milltek, brakes, engine mounts, coilovers dependant on which ones he goes for.
thats £11k plus lol
then a new clutch kit and gear box when the standards give up.
fair play for doing it though, did it not cross your mind to get a faster car with the cash you...
lol this is my 3rd different mk of clio, i had about 3.5 mk1s, a mk2 billabong and now this mk3 gt. i miss my golf gti never had any of these little niggles and reminding myself how/why i got p**sed off with my mk2. dont think ill ever buy another new renault, even though they will remain a...
that looks superb, i wouldnt bother getting a cooper s, see them everywhere, the twingo is somthing diferent to the norm.
black wheels, wing mirrors and fog surrounds would look even better, imo keep it over a mini anyday.
my fan blower squeeks on level 1 and 2 now................ back to renault again, my rear brakes are still making noices when pulling off/doing 3 point turns too.
french piece of s**t........
i really want to try mk2 -60mm springs but dont want to pay out £100 for them not to fit and have to mess around selling them on/sending them back.
my list for jan is...
lower 45mm on pi springs (more if i can find a cheap way other than forking out £600 plus on coilovers)
H&R 20mm...
ive had lots of 1.8 valvers but never got a williams (yet), the 1.8 is a little more revvy but makes less power but you could get a mint valver for £1500 and spend the rest on go faster bits.........
