fitted some of the apex springs from k-tec to my mates car on saturday. the ride feels ok and the drop was noticable. fitted quite a few of the ebiach kits but they dont make a noticable lowering difference but they do improve handling. im going for the apex ones as it dropped my mates pretty...
standard exhaust are just normal mild steel so corrode. stainless steel systems wont/shouldnt corrode you might get a slight surface corrosion but they wont rot through.
look at the spark plug electrode tips(loose or mishaped) and the plug porcelin insulation(cracks etc). A software update from renault could help assuming your car has the earlier software in the ecu now.
have a look at the lower engine mount. small twisted bar going from the subframe to the gearbox at the back. had a few work loose before and it may be worn/split.
optimax contains cleaners to clean out the injection system but it wont make that much difference and standard petrol does have cleaners in it anyway. optimax is a slightly higher octane rating as well. if your engines running fine then what fuel you put in it wont affect emissions.
tappets are adjustable on your 1.2. maybe your tappets want checking or is the noise from the cambelt/alternator belt area(shredding belt,noisy tensioner etc)
there was a batch of new 1.2 16v clios that had a low oil level from the factory. there is an actis solution about so if your that worried let your dealer have a listen.
you would have a slight decrease in fuel consumption but the amount you say is a bit excessive. You sure you just havent been thrashing it more now the vipers fitted;)
the valver box is a j type the same as your rt. do the same as you did before and use the overflow method from the filler plug to get the level ok(oil level should be level with the filler plug hole). make sure the vehicle is level though(not jacked up). we use trx 75/90 gear oil.
the actual design is the same but there must be a difference in the spring rates/damping as when i drive them at work i think the phase 2 is a lot better ride than the phase 1. Renault dont release actual fugures in the manuals so theres no written proof of the difference but they do feel...
