you mean the aux belt was slipping and caused the cambelt to snap. the cambelt turns the cams. its a toothed belt so can either snap or jump teeth if its slack.
dont think you would need the manifold off. unbolt the engine tie bar mount so the engine can be pushed forward to give you more room. remove the subframe supports on the inner wings. most renault racks are removed by unbolting them and sliding them out through the hole/gap in the o/s/f inner wing.
its very unlikely/rare that something completly shears and smashes through the casing damaging the clutch etc. would be an idea to change the clutch while your stripping it though. gearbox is removed by removing the subframe and dropping the box out from the bottem.
oh right. still sounds a bit serious as the engine wont start so either something major mechanical has broken or maybe the timing belts jumped/snapped. difficult to say without hearing the noise but it sounds terminal.
if you towed the car slowly so the box bearings werent under much load you would probably get away with it. all my tackles at home so its a bit difficult to cart it all around.
sounds a bit more serious than just a tappet. maybe the oil pumps failed and the engines been damaged which could explain the constant tappet noise as the oil pressure dropped.
one lock is left in so you can get in the vehicle if the plips fail or the car battery went flat etc. if there wasnt a lock left in somewhere you would have to break in it if the above failed.
the small plastic surround it sits in just unclips from the front.once youve unclipped the surround you can squeeze together the reciever clips and remove it from the surround.
if the gaitor was replaced when the original gaitor split/leaked the cv joint was probably damaged due to lack of grease. cv joint not avaliable separatly so you would need a complete driveshaft.
give the engine time to wear in. the 182 manifold/cat is different so im not sure if a 172 decat will fit and i dowt anybodys made a specific 182 decat yet.
depends what breaks(if the breakage is contained inside the gearbox then no other damage will occur). if the box was really about to die you would definatly know about(noise, poor gear selection etc)
£89 for front brake discs and pads fitted is a good price. discs need changing if there worn thin, the braking surface is corroded or if the braking surface of the disc is worn uneven.
there is a possibilty the bearings could seize up due to no lubrication. they will either seize up and lock the box or just collaspe and you would lose drive. could you put some oil in the box in the hope it wont all leak out before you get where your going.
check all the bulbs are correct and ok. check the earth to the backlights is ok.if the earth is faulty sometimes the current finds its way back to earth by going through the other bulbs so all the lights start flashing together etc.
the pins are different heights but you can put it in the wrong way with a bit of force(plenty of customers at my work do it anyway). Either the bulbs in the wrong way round or youve got the connector pin locations in the wrong places.
to put the 21 turbo engine in a clio would be a major conversion. For a start the engine in a 21 is mounted with the engine at the front and the gearbox at the back whilst on the clio there side by side.the gearbox is also completly different. The 1.7ltr conversion from a volvo would be a lot...
yes thats where i mean.if there is no visible connector(with a blanking plate over it) on the vehicle pillar then the dash loom wont have the wiring for the central locking. How about looking on the vehicle interior side of the pillar.
im from chesterfield junction 29 m1. so can you see any wires to the vehicle A post at the bottem, about a similiar level to where the check strap bolts. look down the gap between the car and the door. is there a connector on the car but nothing on the door.
