We've got a 42" Plasma setup at work and that always looks amazing with 360 or PS3 on it. Plazmas can do better blacks, but the new Samsung LED LCD displays should be able to match it as it's not just one large backlight which is always on.
Still reading, and still not got a clue what to get...
I did that the other day. They only ever have a handful of displays connected to decent sources, plus LCDs look very different in shop lighting than they do at home.
I've spent most my afternoon reading into this and I still haven't decided.
If the new Samsung LCDs come out soon I might go for one of those. My old 26" Samsung LCD has been pretty good and the new ones are supposed to be massively better.
I was thinking the 40" model...
The PS3 doesn't switch to it automatically, you need to connect it up with SCART or composite to get a picture then in the console setup switch it to HDMI, obviously with the cable connected to the TV also.
I have to admit I'm tempted as I've just had a quite nice bonus. They are doing them with a Friends and Family discount like the standard car too.
Of course, it would have to be a nice number again.;)
I'm with o2. The handset was free and my tarrif is discount 250. I'm with o2 business so had to add bolt on texts which cost me a bit compared to the cost of calls and the tarrif, which works out at just over £12 plus VAT. I've been with them years so they now offer me their best price...
Right, that's the end of this crap again.
You are all doing a great job of making yourselves look like a bunch of idiots squabbling over who's dad is the biggest. So to save yourselves and more embarrassment this thread is now locked.
LMAO, those figures are very selective and have been massaged by Sonys PR department to make them look good. They don't tell you the whole truth, worldwide sales are what they should be quoting. ;)
Also they neglect to mention that both Wii and 360 sold out totally at retail, so they couldn't...
I ordered a retail PS3 for the office yesterday, it arrived today!!
The games industry is worth a few quid, you should just see the bonus I've just picked up. Toys gallore for me, or do I get an R26.
That's good enough for me. I'll get one on order now. It's very rare I ever use the camera. Especially now all the dirty girls on here are behaving themselves!
I can tell you 100% that Devs are still getting the same boxes we always have done. No sign of HDMI yet. MS even deny it to us.
That post is likely to get someone in some serious trouble. lol
I'm running it under Vista 64 and it's been 100% stable so far. Not a single crash.
I'm not usually into this style of FPS, but the location and atmousphere is really pulling me in.
I just want to see the sodding power station now. lol
According to Alienware they put all components through rigorous testing.
Out of 34 all 34 had the chipset fan fail. Now that's an Asus part, but they can't have tested them for long if the fail rate is 100%. We also had various hard drive/RAID problems, failing DVD Rom drives and the odd...
God nooooo.
I bought 34 Alienware PCs and every single one of them had a problem. That was over £120ks worth of hardware. I'd never buy Alienware ever again.
Even the free stuff they gave me didn't make up for the extra work they have caused me.
Get a beast from here Ian: http://www.xworksinteractive.com/ They might do you a nice deal if you mention me.
Clart loves geek talk, that's why he was first to post in this thread. Want me to post some nice benchmarks for you? ;)
You're a marketing mans wet dream. ;)
The 360 is gaining more and more support from developers, and is more often the lead platfrom being developed on. In the past PS2 always came first.
The fact it's huge beast puts me off even more. It's massive. I like the touch sensitive buttons though.
That's the reality of owning one at the moment though.
The pad is horrid. No rumble and far too light, plus the triggers are nasty. I've been saying that for months though.
