I went with the Maxogen on the advice of BenR, many moons ago. But like I said, I didn't (and wouldn't) pay £400 for one. They're a fantastic bit of kit but £400 for an induction kit on a Clio is just plain silly. lol.
At the time I had some spare cash and managed to get a new one for £300...
ITG Maxogen v's Standard airbox.

Seems to gain ~8bhp in the upper midrange.... but this is without altering the fueling, and probably making the car run slightly lean.... which is good for releasing more power with a remap.
I wouldn't...
I'm ready for a new set up front.
Glad someone else thinks the Exaltos are only OK - I actually preferred the ContiSports.
Going to try Goodyear next I reckon.
I disagree. I know that VTS's aren't far behind 172's. And there would certainly be no 'toasting' going on.
Ph2 172's are about 156 bhp/tonne (that's if they chuck out full power - which very few do!).... A lot of VTS's chuck out 130 odd bhp standard which make them about 140 bhp/tonne.... so...
Knowsit Jon.
I loved your old car. :-(
Cup to 197 is a strange one. Odd that you list the step ups as being size and build. Seems odd that you bought a Cup in the first place if those are your priorities.
It's not that we don't like the 197, or that we think the 1*2's are better.... we...
On top of the filter you have the carbon fibre enclosure, aluminium spinning to connect to the silicon hose.
Like I said, mine was £300. I wouldn't pay full price for one. But for £300, and what you get, they are a far better package than anything commercially available.
Plus, I already...
Yup. Got a 360. Wii is going to be the next one. Played one for the first time this weekend and they are very immature and childlike consoles. But are an absolute f**king hoot. lol. :o
I'm seem to remember Lee saying that the PS3 is much harder to develop games for than the 360 which is why...
Just about sums it up. Not very stable at high speeds either. Alright dead straight, but put a slight curve in at 120+ and my arsehole is going from ten pence to half a crown. lol.
Just found out on the net that the PC is only 3.7 A. So less than 500w. You could actully get away with a 0.75Kw one, but better to get bigger than you need to be safe, plus you can use it for more powerful tools if you need to.
EDIT - So has some one else. Doh.
You need a 110v 16A 3 pin plug and a 240v to 110v transformer.
I would guess that a piddly little motor that's in the PC would pull no more than 4-5 Amps, but don't know the actual power of the things.
Definitely nowhere near 45 Amp!
A 1.5Kw transformer should be plenty.
I got mine in a group buy for £300. More than happy with it, but a sad don't buy one and expect it to single handedly change the wa your car drives.
It's a lot of money, but it is a complete kit. The silicon hose with breather pipe would set you back £60+ on it's own..... And when you look at...
LOL My missus got my 360 connected to Xbox live for me and she is a complete and utter techno-phobe. lol.
I've streamed HD stuff wirelessly but it's very difficult to get a good enoiugh signal unless my router is line of sight with my Xbox.
Yes mate. 2003 53 172 Fat Fucker. lol.
You guys are only 30 mins down the road from me. At least Yoz's house is lol. I'm on 33k so 36 is just round the corner.
I have had ITG Maxogen, Hillpower Ported Manifold, Prospeed 2.5" Cat Back, uprated fuel pressure regulator and a GroupN ECU... the ECU made the single biggest difference and made the best of the other mods imho.
Biggest difference that was really noticable was the beefed up midrange. Got rid...
Mine hits a brick wall at about 125/130.
I think this is where the ultimate lack of peak power and having the aerodynamics of a brick make themselves felt lol.
I have to ask who's more foolish. The fool or the fools that mock him?
It's the cams reaching their most efficient point at a certain rpm range. In the case of the F4R the cams pull much harder after 5000rpm.
Try here dude. Explains pretty well how cams work and what they do and there's a...
I would like to point out that my car has turinis, Cup Spoiler and splitter although these mods were carried out in early 2004, before they became such a faux pas.
But that poster is bloody true mind!!
