Sounds like the ISCV. Ive had mine cleaned and its a lot better, drives fine now, but still revs a bit lowish when cold. Got a new one going in on wednesday. Everything should be sorted then.
Ive been looking for some sideskirts for my valver, but cant find many on offer.
The only ones Ive seen that I like are K-Tecs Kombat ones.

Toyos are probably the best value for money tyre out there.

It is a very simple method of getting a few extra bhp, and does work.
You could wire up a switch yourself for a lot less £s but the alterpower is slightly more technical than just being a switch.
Take the K&N off for a start. Thatll be robbing you of some power. Stick to the original airbox with a performance panel filter or a fully enclosed IK.
Apparentely (and it works with mine) the worst thing you can do it deck the accelerater. Push it gradually between 3/4 and full throttle and you should be able to go faster.

If the aerial base is cracked then rain will be getting in there. A new one is £4odd from Renault.
Another possibility is the frame is lifting and letting water in there. Just get some clear silicon and run it all round the edge of the s/r frame. Just make sure you do this when its dry.
Potentiometer should never have been adjusted so its unlikely that.
First place to start is the ISCV (Idle Speed Control Valve). Give it a good clean and see how it runs after this.
