Its hard to tell really!! You really cant diagnose over the internet!! To be honest if you end up having to take it you may be just aswell taking it straigh to renault for immobiliser fault, Just make sure you say to them it wont start, how much is a basic diagnostic check? ( should be 1 hours...
In theory it shouldnt matter if the Plip bit doesnt work, the code is stored in a chip, so even if it wont unlock it should de-activate the renault immobiliser, if it has an aftermarket alarm the plot thickens though really!!
Right, so the battery isnt dead then? it turns over just wont fire?!
When you turn the key the red roumd light in the middle of your instrument cluster should come on and stay solid, then go out, whats it doing? have you got a spare key?
Basically there are some consumers that are always live!!, ie the clock, radio for memory etc, so when you put the negative lead on, there maybe a little spark or crackle, dont worry thats perfectly normal!!!!
Thats why i said to make sure the doors, boot and ignition are off etc, the more...
Right, get the correct battery and tools that fred said, 13MM socket, longish extension bar, that clamp holds the battery in place, undo the 13MM nut and take off the clamp.
Make sure the doors are shut and the keys are out of the car, being over safe but better that than sorry, Get your 8MM...
pmsl!!!
Seriously though,
: That looks nothing like Nicky.....
: I can't beleive you didn't buy a new set of plates!
: Why have you got rid of a VTS for a no litre clio?
What a fokin joke that is really! A TDC sensor is about £50 with a new section of loom and half an hour to fit, and i doubt that would have been the problem anyway.
