Out of interest what are the standard speakers? Are they Blaupunkt? MK2 172 btw.
Also if i was to buy some comps would the standard wiring be ok, or would it not suffice? I'm not fussed about an amp/sub but some nice comps would be good.
Cheers.
On my old 1.2 i had these god damned alloy dustcaps on, and lucky old me had one of them cold weld itself onto the valve - and despite futile attempts with molegrips and other tools it would not come off (unlike the rubber coating around the valve). Eventually i Dremmeled the f00ker off (great...
My 172 is somewhat chuggy on idle (MK2 172) but i put that down to the fact that most performance cars are roughly the same. Its designed to have its tit's revved off so i guess its a repercussion or that.
But agreed would be nice if it worbled a little nicer :)
(standard apart from Green...
Hi there,
Looking for a viable solution to hardwire my 3G Ipod into the standard 172 ICE, and maintain the stork control and the dash display. Been looking at the Dension Ice Link Plus but wondered if anybody had any experience of this solution, and if so how they rate it. Also looking to...
Out of interest what speakers do the MK2 172 use are they Blaupunkt?
Sometimes i feel like taking a hammer to my passenger side tweeter, it rattles like **** at times and does my facking head in (someone who can't ignore foreign noise). But i worked out that basically i can rotate it at will...
Right the driver side suspension looks a lot lower than the passenger side, so car is sitting somewhat wonky.
With regard to your roofline, you have a few options. If you have the file as .PSD (layers still open) you can use the blue tool on the car's roof to remove jaggies. However the best...
While the economy is great considering the power and instant response, the trip computer isnt 100% accurate. Read the manual, if you reset the computer for a 5-10 mile journey home from work, the reading you are getting is frankly pointless!
If however youve covered a few hundred miles then...
Not only that but if you over inflate your tyres you are liable to experience a blow-out on longer journeys such as motorway driving because the air will expand within the tyre once they are fully warmed.
Just be careful not to give them too much pressure :)
Dont like kitted rudeboy cars, in fact if i see any sort of clio/corsa/saxo/106/nova coming the other way i normally point and laugh. But there again ive never fully understood the "art" of spending 3k-5k on a car to make it look different when you could just buy a better car in the first place...
Banging the hell out of the spinning part of the nut with a decent chisel also renders them nuts ridiculously easy to get off to.
But glad you found the key mate!
So by fitting one of these will it make your ECU think that the emissions are to high and cut your power, or will it light up your SERV light or something?
Is there a way to bypass sensors to trick them into thinking nothing is at fault?
Cheers.
You cant get the best from the handling unless your on a (private empty)track though, where as you always have to use/look at the interior. Horses for courses, but frankly apart from the Cup alloys and spoiler theres not a single reason id ever think about changing from full fat.
Not to say...
Glad your happy with it mate (the cd changer is standard equipment btw). Only thing that scares me with my MK2 172 is that under heavy braking from high speed the tail likes to perform a waggle. Also if you push them through corners the first thing you notice is the back starting to feel light...
Bryan its well known that IK kets have limitations, all of them will cause issues of some description. Take for example sitting in traffic on a hot day, your kit sucks up that hot air and raises the engine temperature significantly.
Then theres the lean fuel mixture which can cause flat spots...
Was looking at a PC Viper IK myself but got put off by the loss of torque, the incorrect fuel/air mix and more petrol consumption.
So gonna just leave my Green panel filter to do its job.
They fitted fine on my old MK1, just require some small manipulation to ensure the boot closes correctly. The wiring is another matter though, its a b**ch.
Just strip your car to f00k mate, and get one of these for your nan/girlfriend.

P.S Send me some pics of the new motor Phil, cheers :)
In my opinion ou should still cancel your card and get it reissued with another number. I know its hassle, but i wouldnt trust these sorts of people with that information.
Right guys, as loosely quoted from the manual. The computer read-out will become more accurate the longer you leave it between resets, likely to make a more reliable average.
Also note that the computer still calculates your MPG if you sat stationary at traffic lights/motorway queues/idling...
The alloys came fitted to the car (also have the originals) and apart from some scuffing which a refurb would fix, and the need for some new centre caps, i personally like the look of the alloy on the car. As you rightly pointed out, its not your car so its of little worry to you.
Cant wait to...
