when you paint them you ruin the paint when you use spanners on them lol p-lus you cant paint the threads and im thinking of protecting the whole bolt rather than just the outside.
ill look at nickel coating. i did find something the other week that turned them black after leaving them in a...
how expensive? lol id be willing to pay a bit for the ease of doing it at my convenience. would love to be able to send the lot off and sort it but i dont think its a viable option :(
thats tempting! the only issue i can see with that is if i send a job lot off to you and then realise ive missed a few its going to be a right ballache and watse of money to send a handfull thats left. this was the primary reason for me wanting something diy that i could do in my garage
and the...
sorry if its in the wrong section but im not sure where this would be best suited
im rebuilding an engine and car basically and im tarting up the enigne bay. ive spent a fortune powdercoating bits and peices but i only have these rusty old nuts and biolts to put back, ruining the look and...
lol the car is having cup racer suspension and 300mm brembo 4 pot brakes (better than the standard 280mm) so im not worried about the report lol the car should be up to the power im putting through it.
its just the paperwork side of the conversion that is a likley hurdle, as it will be for this guy
i know the insurance companies require an engineers report if the power goes up a certain ammount, this isnt a problem for me tbh its the paperwork side of it with the log book etc. to keep it all legal thats my issue. expesially as im doing all the work myself
then why (if the roumour i heared is true) are renault now changing their part numbers to match nissan part numbers? surely it would be the other way round?
tyres are side specific, thats why you have "outside" or and arrow on ONE side of the tyre.
if you have the word "outside" writen on the outside o9f your wheels then they are right.
if you swapped 2 of your tyres over now youd have those twin lines running along the tyre on the outside of 1...
are you popping down then mate?
im not overly worried about that atm because thats the last but 1 thing to be done but im just preparing myself and trying to think of everything :)
cash shouldent be a problem by then mate so it was either longlife down the road or pro-speed.
the thing im worried about is getting the tailpipes to sit correctly through the diffuser and around my custom made rear end lol. its not as easy as a clio where the diffuser just pops off its looking...
some tyres are multidirectional...
normally theres an arrow pointing in the way of travel or "outside" printed on the outside wall. if these arent present then id say they were bi-dierctional tyres
not when its bonded to a rear bumper of a megane lol
will be a bumper off job for me then.
how do they then work out where the tailpipes need to sit to exit the diffuser?
does anyone have a custom made exhaust for a 197/200?
do you know how they did it getting around the diffuser? or have any pictures of itfrom underneath?
thanks
well the megane bay is considerably bigger than the 5 so i may be lucky and not have any clearance issues. supose theres only 1 way i will find out lol. even if it does need tilting slightly i cant see it being much of a problem as i have the 2 hanging mounts and the "dogbone" mount at the back...
brilliant! thanks for the information mate.
ill be running standalone anyway so i supose i could opt for the same solution as you and put a trigger wheel on the crank pulley.
you mentioned earlier about tilting the engine forward a little. was this due to space issues in the 5 or something else?
well when i compared the VW and the renault boxes next to each other the input shaft of the VW box was nowhere near as "far out" as the renault one. i.e when you looked at them in the bellhousing the renault one was long and the VW one was short.
the spacing i was on about is the "flywheel...
can i ask how you over came the issues with the gearbox fitment?
the ones i have seen so far looking at a seat leon cupra (6speed) box are:
flywheel needs to be spaced out a couple of inches to come close to the flywheel
the sensor that sits atop the JC5
the starter motor position
id love to...
why does it bother you how much more fun a 1.4 is compared to a 1.2? by fun you mean drive it like a loon and crash it which completley validates the point that your insurance is a fortune.
a car is a car, be greatfull you can consider having one and driving one wether its a 1.2 or a 1*2 it...
