    Bloody Renault exhausts!

I know... to be fair it's done me / the car 6 years now so it aint too bad, but it's strange how it has sheared off just back from the cat, where it curves 'upwards' before continuing back. I wonder if this is a constant weak point due to the upward curve...

    Bloody Renault exhausts!

There I was, 70 miles from home, trundling to an interview in plenty of time, when my car becomes very, very 'boomy'. I think nothing of it, after all, I've been doing motorway miles and the exhaust always sounds louder once I'm back to low revs... Until I hear that fateful sound of exhaust...

    Removing bump strips

Ah, I get you. So the rubber circle hides the clip from the inside of the car... sorted, will do tomorrow. :)

    Removing bump strips

Cheers mate. This small rubber circle behind the strip, can you see it when you look down the 'inside' of the strip between the strip and door?

Thinking about this all wrong... she's on the insurance, as you've promised her, but if she's not strong enough to drive it then she better get her ass down the gym! Win - win situation my son. ;)

    Removing bump strips

Before I rip off the side bump strips and replace with my sprayed ones... what's the best way to remove them? Do they unclip or have I got to slide them in a particular direction!?! :S

I'm generally not a modified-looks car but it looks nice, although I'd change the wheels and rear lights. Would also lower the rear a bit more, seems to sit a bit high but could just be the angle. And I'd personally lose the dump valve, but they're like Marmite!

    Just sold my 182....

If a friend or a family member works for Renault, then you can be eligible for discounts, which makes buying a newer / more expensive car than you planned feasible.

Don't know, but I love having horn buttons everywhere... if I get angry I have so many options to choose from! :D

    172 GAZ coilovers for £440?

Cheers guys, I always thought they won rave reviews with the 182's... My plans have always been the FK's, as H&R's are just that bit too much, so I'll stick to that! :)

    172 GAZ coilovers for £440?

Does this seem any good to anyone? I know GAZ are considered pretty good but I don't know how much their 172 kit costs... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Renault-Clio-172-Sport-Gaz-Coilover-Kits-Brand-New_W0QQitemZ7923363934QQcategoryZ40192QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

    Lol, bloody French, always over-compensating!

    Claying methods...

How does everyone apply clay? You see, I ask because I always used to wash and rinse off the car fully, then clay, rinse off again and then dry, polish, etc but yesterday I just clayed each panel as I was washing, then sponged everything down again to remove streaks, rinsed, dried, etc. I...

    Is this priced right?

Bristol Street is overpriced and to be honest I think it's one of the dealers where your wouldn't really get much benefit from buying form them... I don't know what their servicing / mechanics are like, but the general sales and parts departments are both shockingly unhelpful...

    Just sold my 182....

Got that same urge to pick up an old mint Mk2 Golf and keep it mint, but not yet! That one above is perfect, can't fault a thing. Well, maybe the number plate font and the exhaust looks a bit blackened!

    Right, my plans...

Well, your car is probably my favourite on this site mate, so I have probably stolen one or two ideas without knowing it! I'll avoid Turinis, Carbon badges and, uh, standard phase 2 172 bumpers! :S
  18. A

    Right, my plans...

Lol, controversial remark! I want to try and keep the factory look going, so if anything it will be a Cup spoiler. If I can cross the standard look with a little bit of rally sl@g, then I'll be happy...

    15s or 16s??

Oi, plenty of 172's run on 15's on a day to day basis! < < ;) As for lowering, you should be able to get away with a bit of a drop and still not have a problem with speed bumps.
  20. A

    Right, my plans...

Yeah they're the standard 15's that come on it, they look a bit smaller in the small pic in the upper corner of the photoshop (without lowering). Haven't really considered a bigger / Cup spoiler, but everyone seems to be mentioning it, so I may have to investigate!
  21. A

    Right, my plans...

Or get the handles done in anthracite... ;)
  22. A

    Right, my plans...

So I may have to give in and get a Cup spoiler! Am tempted to leave the handles / book lock black just to break up the silver a bit, especially with the strips going colour coded as well...

    15s or 16s??

and I think the company's owned by someone who lives by me... Don't know about performance, but 15's can look a bit small after stepping down from 16's, but get the ride height right and it shouldn't be a problem.

    F4R turbo + ND0 box (its in!)

Lol, I've missed what's happening in this thread. Look forward to more pictures!
  25. A

    Right, my plans...

Pretty standard for a phase 1 172, but any opinions still welcome all the same... Lowered on coilovers (FK's pretty soon) Standard alloys refurbished and sprayed in anthracite/graphite (lighter colour than the p-shop, will be done soon) Phase 2 rear lights (on the hunt for some at the...

    Wheel refurbishing...

My word, the man's thought of everything, and the price gets cheaper by the second! What's the average turnaround time for a job? If it's a day or two I can plan a weekend around it, but if it's longer then I'll have to have a rethink. I'll be in touch soon mate. :)

    Side Repeaters

Clear for me, but as above, stick to genuine clear ones as they're so much nicer than all these crystal, etc ones kicking about now... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/RENAULT-CLIO-SIDE-REPEATERS-WILL-FIT-ALL-1993-2005_W0QQitemZ8051342006QQcategoryZ14763QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem Those are the ones I've got...
