It'll cost more to buy, insure and run a second car than it will having greater dep'n by using your's more. I worried about it for the first few thousand, now I just think sod it, I've got this car for a couple years yet, so what if it hits 70k or 80k? Didn't buy it for its resale value.

I'm having a bit of trouble finding someone who can refurb and re-colour my wheels for a decent price. A place local to me 'the plastic surgeon' can do them for about £300, but that's really £100ish more than I want to spend. Anybody know any national chains that do wheel refurbs, or anyone...

Quite easy to do really, sand down to make sure the primer sticks properly, a few coats of that, let it dry, quick sand down, then build up coats of paint gradually. Don't try to go back and get spots you've missed until the previous coat has dried otherwise you'll create thick spots of paint...

Can I spot some bubbling on the skirt? Might be a good point to bring up to bargain that asking price down... ;)

Yeah, 5k is a good marker, their value shouldn't drop much below that for a while. I'd be tempted not to pay much extra for different colours, just seems a bit silly to me!

I've only had my 172 since Sept, so have only properly used clay on my previous Fiesta, which wasn't the greatest quality paintwork (albeit amazing for a 10 year old car!). I don't think I've seen clay work magic on an already decent surface, so maybe I'll get a new bar and try again in a few...

Well looked after car, nice engine bay, I'd put normal badges on and, yeah, lose the wheels... Ronal's have got to be the number one choice, but 16" Turini, F1 Cup's, etc all look cool. I think a wheel with a lot of 'wheel' to it looks best (spaced out, thin spokes don't suit) :)

Coilovers have more benefits than just being able to lower the car loads or adjust, but decent springs and dampers will do a good job for less money. I also prefer 16's to 17's, but those wheels are rather tasty looking. :)

V6 for me, just been one of my dream cars since it was first released. The Meggy or 182 doesn't have anywhere near the same impact...

Cheers karl mate, I'm liking the stealthy look. Better finish off my sprayed strips and get some lights pronto... then onto the more expensive jobs! And all before May hopefully.

The exhaust is a custom one, made by someone before I bought the car so I don't know it's origins, sorry! I'd imagine it's pretty similar to the K-Tec one, except that my pipes slope inwards so don't stand out as much as the 182 style pipes. Thanks for the pic, it's a simple mod I'll certainly...

Maybe, possibly be cool to spray phase 2 strips anthracite also... Nobody fancy changing the lights and colouring the strips? :(
