I think it's because the topic surrounds the idea of a race between two cars that are clearly not designed to be driven agressively in a race environment, it creates a humourous image in many people's minds and hints at some possible chav-ness...
Can I enter my Dad's ride-on 'mower in this...
I would wait for the N80 but looking at the spec, it's gonna be pretty damn expensive, at least until other phones start catching up.
IIRC it's got a huge memory and 3mp camera... sweet but costly.
The missus is going for a Sony Ericsson so I'd better avoid those! Nothing worse than matching...
Right, I'm in the process of deciding between:
Nokia N70 - ideal mix between phone and useful other functions
O2 XDA Mini S - PDA's rock
Samsung Z320i - looks cool, i-Mode, small
Nokia 6270 - looks pretty cool, small
Anyone got any preferences?...
Well I'm planning on the Alpine 9853R with IPod adapter, so it should improve quality to a certain degree. Anyone recommend / not recommend this?
I will upgrade the speakers in time, but I'd rather just do one upgrade for now and if the HU is the bigger increase in quality, then I'll do that...
Just wondering...
I'm sick of the rubbish sound quality from the standard Head Unit - Changer - Speaker set up in my Mk1 172, so am planning a basic upgrade.
Would it be wiser to upgrade the speakers for better ones and run off the standard HU, or replace the HU for a decent 4x52W one and...
Lol, yeah I was with my girlfriend... and she spent a lot of time reading!
My name's Adam so someone may have called me that... I suppose these events are always the same when new people turn up. Hopefully my face and name will be recognisable before too long! :)
Weston was my first of, I hope, many more meets and events to come. I wish I could get enough time off work to go to as much as you have!
I didn't even know you were 'ukaskew' until right at the end of the day, despite being beside you for most of it, let alone your real name Rich! :P
Re: South West Meet Pics - 05/02/06
Cheers mate, always good to know there's a bit of appreciation! Loving your's too, although your flaps are awfully large! ;) I
'm in two minds at the moment as to what direction I want to go in with it (back to standard but immaculate or lowered, better...
Some nice pics there mate, I'll probably drop you a PM to get some emailed over to me.
Didn't chat to you yesterday much, but your car is looking ridicuously clean, I'll have to employ your PC-ing services before FCS!
And I'm loving Day's 16" F1 Cups, makes my weedy 15's look embarassing...
Re: South West Meet Pics - 05/02/06
Good pics guys, good day out too. I was as quiet as always and the missus was freezin!
Yeah, my Silver 172 is Mark's old car, been an absolute gem so far so if you chat to him regularly Evoo, let him know I'm treating her well!
Where you from?
Well, a 2 litre Zetec from a Mondeo fitted to a Fiesta with proper gearing would hit 140 possibly.... but then it certainly wouldn't be as quick as a 182...
Not sure how it happens, but it could be a case of the other having over-compensating, as they work in a parallel circuit. Too much current passing through it maybe...
Saw an older lady driving a 172 occasionally but not for a while, no.
Seen loads of Phase 2 RS's in Exeter recently though, common as muck! Lucky RS-1's are rare... ;)
Ooh, lots of replies since I last looked!
The jury's still out on the 182 bumper, I love the look of it in itself, but it admittedly needs bigger wheels and a drop to fully pull off. The lines don't match up perfectly but I think it's pretty close. Indicators will be an obvious addition in due...
Yeah just drill into the middle of the rivet carefully with a drill piece slightly larger than the small hole in the middle. The back piece of rivet will fall out and the plate come off...
Mine were riveted on, but if they're stuck, then I'd slip a sharp, thin knive in between the plate and bodywork (so you cut through the middle of the sticky strip, lengthways), and then use a hairdryer more accurately on the remaining sticky stuff.
Ah so that was you, good to finally (kind of) see you! Yeah it's not the most fun junction to pull out of, although it does give an excuse to floor it as soon as possible (the wheelspin was accidental Mr. Shell, honest...).
:)
Just on the Countess Wear roundabout, pulling out of the station as I was pulling in, gave you a thumbs up but only seemed to get a response from the younger loking guy in the back seat!
Anyone here?
It would be a lot less hassle just to declare and pay the extra on the premium. The 172 bumper shouldn't cost any extra, and you can argue that the alloys are Renault and so therefore not aftermarket also.
So lowering and induction kit shouldn't be much...
Halfords couldn't match my titanium (647) at all, it came out a very dark, non-metallic grey. Renault did a small can and lacquer for about £13, but I'm going to need another to finish off spraying up a set of bumpstrips (to give you an idea of size).
Very good colour match though.
I've actually really grown to like my plain red clusters recently, think it makes the back of my car look bulkier and meaner... but then this could be because I don't want to pay the asking price for the white circle!
