Hardly rocket science given that Ady was mentioned twice before in the thread. Post 12 is where the nonsense started, far as I can see had the tone been appropriate Ady wouldn't of felt the need to reply.
I don't agree, but this has been done to death. Xenons on the 1*2's are pisch, and the auto wipers/lights work as well as a chocolate teapot. Trophy's mint without the 'extra's', given the money they go for if it had to be a 182 i'd get a cup again.
182cup has cloth (no plastic-leather), no xenons, aircon but no climate control, and a different steering wheel.
Cheaper, drives the same. I had a 182cup, and didn't miss any of the extra's.
Drive a late 172, and a 182 with cup packs and decide for yourself. Wouldn't go for a 182 without cups, as they're harder to sell on. There's no difference in pace between 172/182. The delivery is slightly different (182 better low down by a fraction, 172 revs more freely top end slightly), but...
They are all road cars, end of. The cup is more suited from the factory than the others, but still 100% a road car.
I really want a shot in a standard cup. Owners maintain it's the best to drive, but every review I ever saw has the FF182 as a step up (and the Trophy a step up again).
Suppose it's the difference between seeing the figures on paper, and seeing money falling out of your pocket. I do think it's mental that it's closer (in mpg) terms to a Porsche etc than other hot-hatches. FFs the new cooper s is quicker in a straight line than a 197/200, but more economical...
