I bet the spoiler on its own is only around £130. Get it sprayed at a local body shop for £50 and fit it yourself. Its a staright swap on with cup one and looks no were near as difficult to fit as the double spoiler. Renault cost of labour is what make the cost rocket. Am thinking of one for my 172.

You wont beat a punto 1.2 16v. They have 85bhp. O-60 in 9.9secs. Had one before my clio was much quicker off the mark. Handling however, was a different story!!

Most dealers dont have a 172 in stock, never mind one to test drive. Apparantley only certain delaers can sell new 172s so most dont have 172s for demos. In the northwest there is only Arnold Clark and the Renualt Grp that can sell 172s and espaces!!!
