That will only suck more warm air into the engine. An enclosed one with a cold air feed would be more effective. Or an open one with a home made enclosure. A few people have done that.
Im sure someone will be along with a better, more techical explanation in a bit. :D
They had no issues with my filter or exhaust when I had my first service last week.
You might want to do a search as there have been lots of posts about induction kits on 172s. You certainly want an enclosed one thats for sure.
If you are just looking for a replacement panel filter then either the Pipercross one (which I have) or the green cotton filters seem the popular choices.
I always thought these were traffic master cameras too, but I think some of the newer cameras look similar to these now.
Have you checked: http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/http://www.speed-trap.co.uk/
Yep, Ive still got my knocking suspension. They have given up and so have I. 3 attempts and no luck.
I drove y0z2as Cup at the weekend and he has the same. I also drove Pootle172s car last weekend and was able to get hers to knock also. Even though it had never done it with her driving. I...
Dam good point mate.
I just had my 12k service, but didnt get the filter swapped as mine is washable. Instead of £175.00 it cost me £130.00. Thats a bigger saving than the cost of the filter.
I swapped mine before I got an exhaust, and the differences are barely noticable, they could in fact just be in my head. It was a little more boomy at hight revs and felt to pull a little easier from lower revs but that was pretty much it.
I had the exhaust fitted and at the time had the OE...
Mine rarely drops below 30mpg under normal driving conditions. If of course you class sitting in traffic into Birmingham normal. :@ Of course it gets a good ragging whenever possible.
Rob, he doesnt have a point. If he was trying to make a point hed be more objective. All hes doing is showing his ignorance and trying to start an argument.
But if thats his opinion hes welcome to it. Things would be very boring if we all liked to same things.
Are you lot all soft or what? :o Try and drive a TVR or an early 911. Then youll know what hard work is. Even a Rover 100 is harder to drive than a Cup.

The brochure says they come with mats. Just make sure the dealer doesnt half inch them!!
Mine came with mats already in and the boot net in the glove box.
The mats are pretty good so far. 12k and no wear yet, just a little where my heal goes for the clutch pedal.
I drove over 100 miles in y0z2as cup over the weekend and reckon it rides better than my 172. Its by no means any stiffer and seemed to ride bumps rather than crash into them.
I have no idea what all this talk of the cup being a raw machine is, its possitively civilised.
Time I put more ore in.
If I was you Id wait for the black. It does look stunning in blue, but black on such an imposing looking car will look superb.
Im not keen on black 172s, but on a V6 I think itll look the dogs mate.
As someone else has pointed out, you wont be using it much in...
Nope, just get some radio keys from Halfords as Tom says. When I got my car some chimp had forgot to connect the autochanger, so rather than take it back I just plugged it in myself!! They warned me if could effect my warranty me doing so. LMAO.
Give the engine a good hard pull, or in gear let the clutch up with the brakes on with someone watching the engine. Youll soon see if there is more movement than there should be.
Ive just had my 12k mile service done at Sutton Park Renault on the Chester Road Sutton.
Once again I cant fault them. They had no issue with the exhaust or the fact that I didnt want the air filter doing as its a PiperX one.
The grand total for the service was only £130.66 and they even...
