After an hour of snading with 40 Grit sandpaper it looked like this
Then went on to 120/220/440 Grit
Decided to give the centre a coat of Auto Glym metal polish to see how it would look
was quite pleased with that - went on to 500/600 grit then 700/800 grit and then finhally...
The bloke thats supplying and fitting my coilovers suggested getting new screws and cups that go at the top of the front struts - apparently they are one piece - he said may as well change them to be safe - any one agree? rather not spend more money unnecesarily
made by a company in America called ADR - would have to be imported as none over here at the moment but think they look good pluss also lighter weight than average TSW etc
when fitting coilovers to the front of a Mk 2 172 do you have to compensate for different weight either side of the engine bay to get the car the same height either side.
Dont want it sitting higher one side than the other
if i disconnect the battery then after an hour or so disconnect the steering wheel airbag and fit a resistor will the SERV light still come on when the battery is reconnected as there has been a break in the system?
If I remove the front seats of my 172 is the airbag warning light going to stay on constantly - is there a way around this if so?
also how do you remove the seat without the airbag exploding - do you simply detach the plugs underneath the seats?
Took my car in to renault today - bad whinning noise coming from the alternator - anyway renault agreed and rung me to advise they where going to swap the alternator for a new one.
They then rang me back to say they had stripped my car down and did not have a new one in stock! new one arriving...
When I first had my exhaust about 3 weeks ago i had problems with it moving and also it was way too loud so Charlie sorted it out by putting a smaller backbox on - this has made it sound great but still getting problems with it moving.
Yesterday was the first time I had driven my car for more...
If I change the rear discs on my 172 do I need to buy new wheel bearings or can the originals be pushed out of the disc and then used again in the new discs?

Have spoken to Venom Motorsport today about the possiblity of a group buy of the fk coilover that k-tec sell for ?560. These shocks are obvioulsy height adjustable but have fixed damping (not adjustable).
Normally Venom sell them at ?486 but have agreed to drop the price to ?421...

the paint looks like glass - I have used the Meguairs 3 stage Liquid Crystal polish system with a carnuba wax to finish. The rain just slides of the car now. Great!
If anyone has a silver 2001 on Clio 172 with a Carbon Fibre bonnet please post a picture - one of my mates thinks it will look crap and I want to prove him wrong before I get one.

Need to get some springs fitted to my clio 172 but dont know any garages around here and would prefer to find someone that knows what they are doing. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated. Or if any of you are mechanics living relatively close to cardiff let me know

Anyone have any advice on which lowering springs to buy - I have a set of 17s and want it lowered but do not want to lower too much - I still want the ride to be relatively comfortable but would prefer a bigger drop than the eibach springs give
