magnetec is pretty dog. Anyone who has owned a car with an oil temp gauge will tell you it runs pretty hot
30 is too thin at the temps that the little frenchies run
use a 5w40 or a 10w40
Offside track rod end ball joint has excessive play (2.2.B.1f) - is what you said.
Offiside is always the side furthest from the curb - meaning drivers side
Near side is curb side - passenger side
By the looks of that you are defo attacking it right. The spanner does go on the track rod, and...
Found this on some french web site

Hes got the mole grips around the ball joint (the black rubber bit protects it)
Notice it's connected into the hub and the securing nut is only just on there.
You'd need to tap...
The Hub is the very Heavy Casted bit that is directly behind the wheel. It has the driveshaft going right through it. It has the bearing into it. The susension stut is clamped in the top of it, the wishbone is in the bottom of it. it is "the HUB"
It's the ball joint on the end of the track rod (the steering Rack). To remove the ball joint from the hub undo the litte securing nut then using a tap hammer give the hub a sharp tap. The ball joint has a taper on it so it slots into the hub dead tight. A sharp horizontal tap will release it...
The rain sensor - I think mine makes a noise, like a whiring noise mild grinding noise.
any suggestions? I knew it was a rain sensor but I'm not sure if it was that making the noise...
not £40, I got one for my mk1 16v. It was about £18 for the part.
It would have been a quick job, but renault dd the most annoying thing ever while building mk1s and put one of the bolts in the wrong way round. When you take the nut off you cant remove the bolt without dropping the exhaust off...
wonder how strong the block will be then?
Just had a ride in my mates polo G40 today. he's removed the old charger and gone for a turbo with aqua mist.
220bhp +nitrous to come out of a 1.3 8v!
and about 850kg..
Makes you wonder doesent it
I've just got a 172 FF and the cheapest quote ive had is 1300. Low risk area, 2years ncb, third party F&T.
God i cannot afford it tho. Need to sell my valver
fuel filter is cheap and easy - haynes suggests 1 every 48k
Lambda sensor will be rusted in, so that will be a pain to get out although I bet someone like edde would know what the resistance value should be so you can test it.
Priming noise:
Turn the key from OFF to the ignition position (II)...
did it sound anything like this:

Mine has been doing that for ages now, so the uneven idle and the altenator could be 2 separate problems.
Altenator is fairly easy iirc. Just take the cross member rad assembly out after draining the coolant and you...
when he says hot, he means pretty freakin hot. Something like 70 degrees i think.
I still think it could be thermostat.
I'm on my 2nd engine in my valver, BOTH have needed a thermostat change. The thermostat stays open (flowing coolant round the rad) meaning the whole cooling system (incl the...
I'll make sure i check my 172 then. Never heard of valvers or any MK1s doing this. My vavler never had any probs.
Praps that says something about the way the build quality is going. who knows
