    The infamous 197 flat spot

2 to 2750 rpm isn't in the wrong gear. Not everyone wants to drive like a 17 year old in McDonalds carpark 24/7. I'm not saying it's not a reason not to buy the car btw as they are great in the right circumstances, but to say it isn't noticeable is (imo) wrong.

    The infamous 197 flat spot

Mine was fully decatted with an RS Tuning map and the flat spot was quite noticable. It used to be worse when you were slowing for a roundabout or similar and it was clear, then you'd get back on the power at about 2000rpm and it really used to bog down. It would also happen if you were in 5th...

I'm still using both. Whatever one is nearest I pick up. I've only got a headrest mount for the 3 though, so that'll have to stay.

    T18 TWO...

Christ we did some stupid things in that car.

    My Friday car, a Subaru.

Yeah, it wouldn't be my first choice of car if I needed one everyday, but when i get home from work it'll be parked up and left until next week in all likelyhood. I bought the 197 under the same premise which is why the terrible fuel economy didn't worry me.

    My Friday car, a Subaru.

I'm lucky in that i've come from a 197, so it's not too much to take! I can't workout how to reset the trip computer on it yet, but today i've driven to work (8 miles mixed roads and traffic) and then gone out for lunch (3 miles stop start) and it's averaging 22mpg.

I can't find a case on Amazon that isn't out of stock. Might have to bend over and visit the Apple store Sunday.

    My Friday car, a Subaru.

The Tiguan has mud and snow tyres on it this year, so between the cars we shouldn't get stuck!

I've bought a silver one. It was the first one I clicked on. srs.

they are pretty dark tbh. Yep. I managed 25mpg into work this morning and 28 on the short motorway journey bringing it home the other night. After the 197 it's not actually too much of a shock.

This thing will eat a standard 172/182 alive - especially in the mid-range.

    My Friday car, a Subaru.

That's the thought Mark. As i'm such a young pup though ;) I need to do the test first. We are moving next March so it needs to get from one garage to the other! lol. Yeah, the ph1 hasn't moved, or started. Currently full up with golf clubs and boxes. I let Andy borrow the ecu out of it ages...

    My Friday car, a Subaru.

No it's a 6 cylinder n/a engine. It's plenty quick enough already though tbh. I've already got a filter on the way and trying to find a Prodrive exhaust for it.

    My Friday car, a Subaru.

The 197 had out-stayed it's welcome somewhat, so after I got it MOT'd I stuck it up for sale. All was quiet for a week or so and then a guy showed some interest. We agreed a price and he drove up for somewhere and took it away. Wasn't even fussed about driving it. I then got another two guys...

Too cheap? What could be wrong??

All that on a £1500 car? really? I must be way too trusting.

Bad Tuning & work shop work

Guy's i'm temporarily locking this crusade pending a discussion I need to have with members of CS staff. Unfortunately not all are online at the moment to sort this out straight away. This isn't to say it won't be opened again, it's just I want us to make a collective decision on the best way...

Bad Tuning & work shop work

Speculation. Unless anyone has something to say based on 100% fact, or an actual personal experience, please refrain from posting. It won't do anyone any good otherwise. Thanks.

    197 Nurburgring Fail...

Bad Tuning & work shop work

I must admit, i'm struggling to see the point of this thread continuing on much longer - the usual suspects all appear to have had their say, it's like taking a register at school! It'd be nice if Ktec were to have their say and perhaps explain why this does appear to keep happening with...

    200 MOT Failure

It seems to be the excepted way to replace though? It's only renault themselves that would rather you replaced the whole hub.

    200 MOT Failure

Rsport are out of stick on the balljoints at the mo apparently. I'm not sure why it's such an expensive job though - remove, press out, replace and then refit. I guess it's the labour?

info needed on ph1 to ph2 front end mod

I was lead to believe it was just the light surrounds that needed cutting out and replacing with the ph2 items. The rest should bolt up. I've got all the bits in the garage. It's on the to do list.

    The PH1 172 Appreciation Thread.

I did Goodwood again in August. Car suffered with a naff misfire all day so i didn't do many laps, but someone did take a pic or two. It's since sat in my garage and hasn't moved, so i've not even fixed the misfire! It's got a set of 197 cams, some Meg injectors and some ARP's sitting on...

    Phase 1 1/2

Its a Y plate, so could've been a phase 2. I much prefer the phase 2 front end personally.

Purely because it winds people up a treat :D

    Phase 1 1/2

The light surrounds are the ballache, though it's a winter project for mine. I'll probably get a bodyshop to cut the old ones out and weld the ph2 surrounds. Everything else is already ph2 already. It's been done already once or twice so certainly possible.

V6 Tucked up. Winter hack bought.

Set of winter tyres on my old BM the other year and it was great and we get decent snow up here. The Tiguan has snow tyres on it now, I can't wait to try and get that stuck.
