We used to use PF pads, I wasn't overly impressed by them. Performance was fine, but they seemed to have a habit of breaking up on single seaters & saloons that I've seen.
I'm stripping mine down at the weekend. It's easy enough. It's pretty common with these brembo calipers.
Be careful not to shag the pins when you remove them.
I'm with chip, I don't know the ins and outs of it. As we don't know what lead up to this it's hard to comment as a lot of car drivers are idiots when they think they're protected by a bit of tin they become rocky. (especially 4x4's & rep mobiles)

Not to teach you to suck eggs but keep an eye on your tyre pressures as they will rise as they get hotter.
Also check your coolant & oil levels etc before hand (and take any loose items out the car)
